Summary
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredhas just been announced - and released.Shadowdropping during the reveal, the rumoured remaster is out now, and fans are already diving in.
However, there is one staple of modernBethesdagames that it will be missing: official mod support. This means that console players won’t be able to mod their games as they can withSkyrim,Starfield, andFallout 4.

Oblivion Remastered Launches Without Mod Support
Mods will still be made for PC, but there’s no official support from Bethesda
Bethesda had clearly anticipated this question, and there’s a section for it over on thesupport page. Here, the page reads, “Mods are not supported for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. If you are experiencing gameplay issues while playing with mods, it’s recommended you first try uninstalling your mods, then verify your games files on Steam, or the Xbox App.”
Now, this doesn’t mean that you can’t mod your game. Far from it, the support page even acknowledges that many PC players will play with mods anyway, it’s just that Bethesda will not be providing any support to modders, or be platforming the creations itself.

This is a far cry from what we’ve seen with modern Bethesda games, which have implemented dedicated mod managers so that those without modding experience can easily modify their saves. This has allowed console players to enjoy a limited selection of mods too, but it seems that we shouldn’t expect that to be done here.
Naturally, modders will still share creations for Oblivion Remastered, it’s just possible that it will be a little harder and perhaps take longer. We’ll have to wait and see who gets in there first.

The Elder Scrolls, as a series, has a ridiculous number of mods. Across two different releases, Skyrim is both the first and second most modded game on Nexus Mods. The original Oblivion is in seventh.
