Summary

After endless rumours and leaks,The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredwas finally unveiled.Shadowdropping while the announcement was still airing, the remaster aims to be true to the original, while updating the graphics and adding in some quality-of-life features.

Perhaps the best example of how developer Virtuos has gone about this is through the voice acting. Here, the devs confirm that there have been new lines recorded for the game, but that the original lines that we all know and love are still there. In other words, yes,you should still hear Wes Johnson literally wherever you go in Oblivion Remastered.

“Stop! You’ve Violated The Law” Will Still Sound The Same In Oblivion Remastered

Something old, something new

During the presentation, we’re told that disc storage limits prevented Bethesda from giving every race in Oblivion their own voice sets. This meant that multiple characters in settlements would share the exact same voice actor and voice lines, often to humorous results if they conversed with each other.

Now, every race in the game has its own voice, to add a bit more variety. This appears to be what fans were after, so many will be pleased with this.

But don’t worry if you like the old voice lines. “We also made sure to keep in all of the quirkier dialogue,” we’re told. We’re then treated to a compilation of some of the best line deliveries in the game, including the strange way NPCs greet us, and naturally, “Stop! You’ve violated the law”. So, those iconic lines should still be there.

If you want to hear it all for yourself, Oblivion Remastered is out now. It is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
