Summary
A particularly thievingElder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredplayer has found out what happens if you get jailed if you somehow have a bounty of over 2 billion septims.
Chances are, if you’ve ever playedOblivionbefore (or really any of theElder Scrollsgames), then you’ve spentat leasta little time in jail outside of your stint during the opening prologue. Whether that be because you pickpocketed a few things you shouldn’t have or ‘accidentally’ killed someone in plain sight,it’s safe to say that most of us have been behind bars a few times.

The amount of time you spend in Oblivion’s jails depends on how high your bounty is,which is built up if you perform illegal actions like pickpocketing, murdering, assaulting, and even just being caught trespassing. It usually doesn’t amount to too much, but one player has pushed the limits of just how long you can be locked up for.
If You Don’t Want To Spend 20 Million Days In Oblivion Jail, Don’t Steal More Than A Million Items
A 2 Billion Bounty Has A Unsurprisingly Hefty Cost
Over on the Oblivion subreddit,Redditor Scribe_Of_Satire revealed that they somehow managed to rack up a bounty of over two billionseptim before being jailed. According to their rap sheet, this grand total was achieved by stealing over one million items across Cyrodiil, as well as pickpocketing someone just once. I guess that single pickpocket might have been the turning point.
This humongous bounty (which frankly seems impossible to me without some kind of mod) resulted in Scribe_Of_Satire being jailed for more than 20 million days, equating to around 54,757 years.I don’t care how powerful the Hero of Kvatch is, there’s no chance they didn’t just rot in that cell while also failing to close the gates of Oblivion.

Even if they had managed to close the Oblivion gates, Cyrodil is surely looking more likeStarfieldafter that much time…
It doesn’t seem like that much happened after being jailed for so long, as their hero is shown leaving jail just fine in another screenshot. However, the comments sectionnotes that your character loses one point in one of 10 skills for every day they’re stuck in jail. Even if there is a cap of 10 points lost, you’d still take a hefty hit to your skill points after such a long stint.
