Summary

For the most part,The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remasteredplayers are pretty happy with the game. There have beensome complaints, plenty of debates, andtons of confusion, but it quickly became 2025’sthird-best-selling game, so it’s doing something right.

While the remaster stayed true to many parts of the 2006 title, fans have found a few minor adjustments that have been messing with their flow, one of which is the change to the physics system, and they’re desperate for it to be tweaked.

Oblivion Players Don’t Like The Remaster’s New Physics

Since its surprise launch last month, veteran Oblivion players have taken multiple opportunities to vent about the Remaster’s ‘improved’ physics. Despite its updates, many objects in Oblivion Remastered’s Cyrodiil aren’t as reactive, as demonstrated by Reddit user KingHazeel.

The playershowed an examplein Oblivion where they were able to send dozens of books flying using a single spell. In the Remaster, that just doesn’t happen. Players have alsocomplained that decorating is much harder now. This has led to calls for a fix.

KingHazeel posted their video in the Oblivion Modssubreddit, in which they simply asked, “Any hope of restoring Vanilla Oblivion physics?” This was an exceedingly popular request, with the post getting hundreds of combined upvotes and comments.

The very first thing I noticed in the remaster was shooting the hanging bucket in the tutorial no longer made it tilt from the arrow weight.

“I miss the OG physics, but I’ve dealt with the needed sacrifice,“saiddinowild. “I was so disappointed when the scale object in the game didn’t work as a scale anymore.” Oriontitleyadded, “I just want to place items on shelves. The hit boxes on display cases and shelving units are fucked, and the item grab function is terrible.”

Inside_Anxiety6143 noted the changed physics immediately, saying, “The very first thing I noticed in the remaster was shooting the hanging bucket in the tutorial no longer made it tilt from the arrow weight.”

In the thread, one player pointed out that Morrowind has a mod called “Perfect Placement”, which allows players to, you guessed it, easily place their items in locations around the region. With the Oblivion Remasterbecoming the fastest-modded game in Nexus Mods history, here’s hoping a fix isn’t too far down the road.
