The event cycle inPokemon TCG Pockethas been pretty consistent, with the same six events rotating with minor variations, usually in the form of different promos and emblems. But while the Pawmot Drop Event follows the pattern of previous Drops, it features a few changes that make earning rewards easier!

While not groundbreaking, the Pawmot Drop Event still adds some mechanically new cards, new art, and the most adorable version of Pawmot that you’ll ever see. It also marks an increase in rewards from previous Drop events, to give you more chances to add this trophy to your collection.

What Is The Pawmot Drop Event?

Like previous Drop events, the Pawmot Drop Event is a Solo Battle event that pits you against a series of AI-controlled decks themed around Pawmot and other Lightning Pokemon based on rodents. This event runs from July 02, 2025 until July 15, 2025, giving you ten days to earn these exclusive promos.

This event runs four days shorter than previous Drop events, which were previously active for two weeks. This is offset by the addition of Promo Packs that are rewarded when you first beat each level of deck.

While the big draw for this event is the gorgeous full-art Pawmot promo, if you’re looking for functionality you shouldpay attention the two mechanically unique new promos, Ekans and Floatzel. These new cards may never be available again, so make sure you get a set!

Pawmot Drop Event New Cards

The Pawmot Drop Event introducesfive new cards: three reprints with new art, and two brand-new cards you won’t be able to get anywhere else. This makes the Pawmot Drop Event a great way to get the last cards you need to finish a deck, to get new tools to upgrade a current one, or to stockpile for future releases.

The first card, and the rarest, isthe full-art Pawmot promo. This card is a direct reprint of the Pawmot from the Shining Revelry expansion, and it features Pawmot, Pawmo, and Pawmi all rubbing their electric cheek pouches.

Floatzel Promo-A

Each Promo Pack has a 12.66 percent chance of containing Pawmot, so expect to get one out of every eight or so packs.

Floatzel is the first mechanically unique new card. This Floatzel has the Attack the Wound attack, which deals ten damage for one Water Energy, butincreases to 70 damage if your opponent’s Active Pokemon already has damage. Used with the Buizel from Space-Time Smackdown, this could see limited play in water decks.

Ekans Promo-A

Floatzel cards have a drop rate of 23.84 percent, so you’re likely to find one in every four packs.

The other new card is Ekans, which has 60 HP and the Poison Sting attack. This attack doesn’t deal any damage, but italways Poisons your opponent’s Active Pokemon. This may see use in “Team Rocket” decks, and it would be a solid first Pokemon inClodsire decks, if the Paldean Wooper didn’t already have a superior attack. Still, this may become a must-have card whenever an Arbok ex card is released.

The Bidoof and Machamp Promos, from the Pawmo Drop event.

Like Floatzel,Ekans cards have a drop rate of 23.84 percent, so you’re likely to find one in every four packs.

The last two cards arereprints from Shining Revelry. Bidoof is a fan-favorite, especially in Japan, while Machamp is one of the original Pokemon from the first generation. Neither sees competitive play at the moment, but fans of either Pokemon will want to add these to their collections.

Bidoof has the same 23.84 percent drop rateas Floatzel and Ekans, butMachamp is rarer, at 15.82 percent. This means it’ll probably show up a little less often than one out of every six packs.

Pawmot Drop Event Battles

There are four different decks to play against during this event, and the higher the difficulty, the more likely you are to get a Promo Pack. Whilethe Expert Difficulty always awards a Promo Pack, you’ll need to beat all three lower-difficulty decks in order to unlock it.

A new feature in this Drop event is thateach deck rewards a Promo Pack for your first win, so you won’t feel like you’re wasting Event Stamina by knocking out the easier decks.

Beginner - Pawmo Deck

The Pawmo deck is a simple one to beat with pretty much any deck you have on hand. It contains15 Basic Pokemon and three Stage One Pokemon(two Pawmo and one Lopunny), and every Pokemon in the deck is weak to Fighting-type attacks. It also contains two Poke Balls, the only Trainer cards in the deck.

While this deck can be beaten handily by any deck you have on-hand,we recommend a fighting-type deck to finish all the Battle Tasks at once, so that you may earn extra Event Hourglasses without spending more Event Stamina.

The Pawmot promo card and Pachirisu, from Shining Revelry.

We used aLucario / Ramparos deckleft over from the Triumphant Light metagame to complete all the Beginner and Intermediate Battle Tasks on the first attempt. The same deck made short work of the Advanced and Expert decks, except for the Tasks to win a specific number of battles.

Intermediate - Pawmot & Pachirisu Deck

The intermediate deckdrops a few Basic Pokemon to focus on other evolution lines: Electrode and Galvantula make their debut, along with Pawmot. Pachirisu is there with the Plasma attack to add Lightning Energy to Benched Pokemon, but nothing has an attack that costs more than two Energy, so it doesn’t do much to make this deck a threat.

Once again, all Pokemon in this deck are weak to Fighting, and one of the Battle Tasks requires you to score KOs using Fighting-type Pokemon. A reasonably fast Fighting-type deck makes short work of this battle, allowing you to move on to the Advanced deck.

Advanced - Pawmot and Manectric

The Advanced deck adds somenew stall tacticsto the previous versions. Electrike is back after being absent from the Intermediate version, along with its Stage One evolution, Manectric. Manectric can lock down unlucky players with Flash, which deals 40 damage andforces you to flip a coin to attack back. Too many tails and you’ll just watch your opponent whittle you down.

The way to play around this is to justretreat your Active Pokemon after it’s been hit by Flash. The coin flip requirement only applies to the Pokemon that took damage, not to the rest of the Pokemon on your Bench. Or wait until your Active Pokemon gets KOed and take a revenge KO with Marshadow.

Win this battle without your opponent getting any points.

Double-check your deck before starting this battle. Illustration rares and promo versions of cards with one, two, or three-diamond rarities will prevent you from finishing the rarity-based task.

Expert - Pawmot and Pikachu ex

The Expert deck can present a legitimate challenge: Pachirisu now has a function, adding Lightning Energy to Pikachu ex to allow it to attack more oftenwhile adding X Speed to retreat Pikachu ex after attacking. It also adds Pokemon Center Lady and Giant Cape for survivability, and Red to add extra damage to your ex Pokemon.

It’s a good idea to try and KO Pikachu ex before it can attack, especially if your opponent has already invested Energy into it.Pikachu ex is the main threat from this deck: the CPU opponent prioritizes using Pachirisu to add Energy, then Pikachu ex to attack, and back to Pachirisu, without ever using Pawmot unless the other Pokemon are absent.
