Summary
Indiana Jones and The Great Circleappears to have been the hitXboxhoped it would be with more than four million people playing the adventure game, and that was before it came toPS5. So much so that it seems very likely we’re going to see more from MachineGames' take on Indiana Jones.
Xbox boss Phil Spencerspoke with Varietythis week and was asked if there are plans to build on The Great Circle’s success (thanks,VGC). “We’re really happy with Indy and the players and the reception. We do think there’s life in that franchise, and I’m just gonna leave it at that,” Spencer told Variety.

The interview took place earlier this week, so before the timed Xbox exclusive arrived on PS5, and Spencer quickly pivoted to focus on that. It’s too soon to tell how many more people have picked up the latest MachineGames title since it arrived on a new platform, however, it’s probably a lot. A month ahead of its PS5 launch,it and Forza Horizon 5 were the two most pre-ordered games on the PlayStation Store.

Spencer also touched on the skepticism of some ahead of The Great Circle’s release due to the decision to use a first person perspective rather than third person, revealing that certain people were pushing for it to be third person. However, since MachineGames was heading up the project, The Great Circle wound up being a first person game, and it worked out pretty well.
Indiana Jones might not be the only game we see from an Xbox studio that builds on existing IP. Specner noted that he was “inspired by MachineGames taking someone else’s IP and doing something so unique.” Get your dream projects in now when it comes to pairing Xbox-owned studios working on IPs you’d love to see reimagined in their signature styles.

However, after being revealed during 2023’s Game Awards, it’s unclear how far along Blade is in development. Spencer did quickly add that despite being inspired by Machine’s work with Indiana Jones, he wants to verify Xbox studios know there’s a lot of room to tell new stories too.Avowedand the recently releasedSouth of Midnightare evidence of that, not to mentionDoom: The Dark AgesandFable which recently had its release date pushed into 2026.
