If you can’t get enoughHelldivers 2in your life, andwho could blame you if you can’t, then boy do we have some news for you. As announced on Twitter on Thursday, Helldivers 2 and Steamforged Games are coming together to create Helldivers 2: The Board Game.
Indeed,PlayStation’s fastest-selling game of all time, the breakout live-service hit, is making its way to the tabletop world, with an official release that will bring an adapted version of the hit shooter.
Democracy In Your Living Room
According to a release, “In this cooperative, explosion-filled 1-4 player tactical action game, every decision can mean the difference between victory and total annihilation in service of Super Earth. Just like in the video game, players will face evolving threats, unpredictable objectives, and the ever-present danger of friendly fire.”
In order to combat those threats, players will have access to weapons, including pistols and machine guns, strategems, like turrets and airstrikes, and the ability to call in for reinforcements. Sounds a lot like the real-life game, doesn’t it?
“As passionate tabletop gamers ourselves, we’re delighted to partner with Steamforged to bring Helldivers 2 into a whole new realm,” Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani said. “The game’s intense action is a perfect fit for the tabletop experience, and we can’t wait for players to blast their way through its chaotic and challenging missions soon.”
In the past, Steamforged Games has translatedthe likes of Resident Evil, theworld of HorizonandDark Souls into collectible fully-fledged tabletop board games. Theofficial crowdfunding campaign will launch on Gamefound beginning on April 8. At that point, prospective players will have a better idea about pricing and everything else.
