Summary
There are only a couple of brands that could get away with releasing major information in a random tweet on a random afternoon.
We saw it earlier this month whenRockstar dropped Grand Theft Auto 6’s trailer out of the blue, and now, for some reason,The Pokemon Companyhas revealedPokemon Legends: Z-A’srelease date in asingular tweet, confirming that we’ll also be getting a Pokemon Presents Presentation later this summer.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Is Releasing This October, Pokemon Presents Scheduled For July
In a new tweet, The Pokemon Company confirmed that Legends: Z-A will be releasing on June 22, 2025. It shared that both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions will feature minor differences, with the Switch 2 edition offering “improved graphics and frame rates!” Those who purchase the game on the original Switch will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 version via an upgrade pack.
Alongside the release date announcement, theJapanese Pokemon Twitter account revealedthat a Pokemon Presents is scheduled for July 04, 2025. It’s here that we’re likely to get our final major marketing blowout for Pokemon Legends: Z-A before its release in October.
Alongside the tweet, Pokemon released new key art for the game, placing an emphasis onits three starters, Tepig, Totodile, and Chikorita, and Mega Evolutions, with Scizor, Lucario, Gardevoir, and Absol all present. Interestingly, Noivern is also featured in the image, sparking hopes that we could see aMega Evolutionof the Pokemon.
While it’s clear that much of July’s Pokemon Presents will be focused on Legends: Z-A, with a smattering of its other usual titles thrown in for good measure, it will be interesting to see what else the company has been cooking. We’re now overdue a new mainline Pokemon game, withScarlet and Violetreleasing in 2022, and rumours of both aBlack and White remakeandLet’s Go Johtohave been swirling around for years. Having two of Johto’s starters in Legends: Z-A could make for perfect synergy with the latter.
Whatever it announces, it’s shaping up to be an exciting year for Pokemon fans.
