Additionally, you cancall in an escort unitto help book suspects andtake them back to the precinct. This saves you time and allows you togo after other calloutsand criminals. Just be aware that theunits might take longer to responddepending on where you are, but you’llstill get the experiencefor booking a suspect.

You’ll also get additional experience for calling for backup, so that’s nice!
Commandeer Cars
As soon as you canunlock the perk to commandeer cars, get it. This is possibly the best tool you can have, as it allows you todrive any running or parked vehiclein Averno City. No more backtracking to find your car or chasing suspects on foot!
Smash windows to access the parked vehicles around the city or force drivers out of their cars in an emergency.

You can alsostart driving the rare vehiclesstashed across the city. Take as many joyrides as you want, as the city of Averno is your playground now. Just be careful not toblow up the car in a high-speed chase.
Step In Front Of Cars
Is there not enough crime for you? One way to get more experience is tocreate opportunities for arrests. It’s morally questionable, but if someone just happens tohit you while crossing the streetand drives away? You’ve now got a hit-and-run.
Some people may stop in time, but other (especially if intoxicated) will incriminate themselves.

Doing this can alsoexpose other crimes, like DUIs and possession charges. you’re able to gain a lot of experience from these, especially when the passenger in the car gets out and attacks you.
Search The Dumpsters
Have youlost a suspector can’t find the goods they stole? Check the nearby dumpsters. Criminals will hide inside of the dumpsters to evade police, but you’re not the average rookie.
Be warned that thesuspect may be aggressiveafter being discovered, though they’lloften surrender immediatelysince they no longer have the advantage. Handle thingsas peacefully as you canfor a higher bonus and mitigate the chances of a poor conduct penalty.

Tail Gang Members
You may noticecars and civilians bearing gang symbols. While that in itself isn’t an arrestable offense, tail them. They mayinitiate a crime or lead you to someoneelse’s mess. Either way, you know they’re up to no good eventually.
You may even come across a gang fight in the streets!

Be sure tocollect evidence as you goso you can make charges stick to the higher-ups in the gangs. After all, the goal is to keep Averno City safe from the various gangs that terrorize the citizens.
Use Your Handbook
The handbook is thebest place to go for informationon how to handle difference violations and crimes. Not only does it tell you thelevel of force authorizedfor specific crimes, but it gives you adetailed outline of what steps need to be performedto make a good arrest.
Using excessive force not approved in the handbook will result in experience penalties, making it harder to level up after a shift.

You can check the handbook at any time byaccessing the same menu as the map, then switching tabs. Of course, if there isn’t time, you candelegate the paperworkto your partner to do later so you can focus on catching the bad guys.
Pin Locations On The Map For Directions
If you need toget somewhere in the city fastbut keep getting turned around, open up your map and set a marker. Your map will immediately give you thebest directions for how to get thereusing the main roads from your current location.
Unfortunately, you can only have one way point active at a time. Plan your routes carefully.

It’s best tofamiliarize yourself with the Averno City mapon your own, but there’s no shame in asking for directions. Besides, you mayfind rare vehicles or hidden artifactson your patrol.
Complete Races For Additional XP
As you explore the city, you mayfind optional minigamesto complete. Doing these results ina break from your typical patrol dutieswhile granting a boost in experience for ranking well.
These challenges will test your abilities to handle the streets, so you’ll want touse your handbrake to driftto get a better time when racing.

Don’t worry about wasting time on your shift doing this! Each challenge willremove you from the day-to-day timerand allow you to make multiple attemptswithout losing time on your shift.
Always Pick Up Evidence
Evidence is everywhere. Even litter can help close a case, so be sure tokeep your eyes on the groundfor anything that can be picked up during an arrest. Don’t forget to search the suspect as well for counterfeit items on their person, too.
During a robbery, any stolen goods count as evidence you can pick up!

Even if the arrest is solid and you don’t need the evidence, be sure togather it and give it to Eugeneat the end of your shift. He’ll catalog it and keep track ofhow close you are to bringing in the next gang leader.
Use Your Siren
The best thing you can do by far is blip your siren on and off as you patrol Averno City. Even when using a vehicle that’s not your patrol car, you’ll place a cherry on top so you can distinguish yourself from the civilian vehicles.
It’s amusing to see a police siren on a garbage truck.
Aside from the aesthetics of it, the siren will make other drivers clear a path for you. That doesn’t mean you won’t wreck them, but it’s not a cop simulator without a blaring siren and a bit of property damage.
