Summary

It seems that big plans forRaymanare already in motion atUbisoft, as job listings for the Montpellier studio are specifically hiring for an unannounced project and “the Rayman brand”.

Just likeCrash,Spyro, Banjo, andSlybefore him (geez, how many platforming mascots are sleeping right now?),there have been many cries for Rayman to make a proper return over the past few years. Those pleas are even more painful in Rayman’s case, though, as his last two games,Origins and Legends, are widely regarded as some of the best 2D platformers ever.

Despite having somewhat of aresurgence in 2023 with his weird adaptation in Captain Laserhawkand adedicated expansion for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Rayman fans haven’t had much faith that Ubisoft was going to bring our boy back any time soon. That all changed earlier this year when it was confirmed that some ideas for a revival were already being discussed.

Including Some General “Rayman Brand” Ones And An Unannounced Project

It’s been a few months since Ubisoft outright confirmed that its Montpellier and Milan teams were going to beworking on something to do with Rayman that’s in the “exploration phase”, but it’s been mostly quiet on the news front since then. That is until today, when several job listings at Ubisoft Montpellier went liveand specifically mentioned the limbless legend.

As pointed out by Twitter user RUniverseVK, Montpellier has posted listings for several jobs that are related to “the Rayman brand”, while some seem to be linked to an unannounced project. It’s not clear if this unannounced game is also to do with Rayman, but considering what we know about the team’s goals, it seems likely to be the case.

It was previously rumoured that a Rayman remake is in the works, so it’s possible that’s just one of the things Montpellier and Milan are working on.

Considering all of the financial issues Ubisoft has been having recently, it’s a good sign that Montpellier is actively hiring for the new project. What working on “the Rayman brand” means is a total mystery, but it could imply a bigger push for the character than just games, or suggest that there’s more than the one semi-confirmed game in development right now.
