Summary

In the week sinceA Minecraft Moviedebuted in cinemas,“Chicken Jockey” has quickly morphed from a throwaway line into a cultural phenomenon.

The movie, which holds the record for the single-highest opening day for a video game adaptation, is currentlyon track to match or pass The Super Mario Bros. movie in terms of all-time gross. It’s barely been a full week anda sequel film is already being discussed.

Part of that success has undoubtedly been due to “Chicken Jockey,“the viral meme that has seen moviegoers bring live chickens into the theateron top ofdrawing ire from movie employees due to the messes that are being made.

Now, one movie theater chain is looking to keep the fun going by hosting — you guessed it — a “Chicken Jockey” themed screening.

Dress Up And Shout “Chicken Jockey” With All Your Friends

As first shared on social media, Regal Cinemas, an American movie chain, has announced that on April 20, it will be playing host to a Chicken Jockey screening.

According to the chain’s website, the Chicken Jockey screening is described as this:

Level up your experience of A Minecraft Movie with our “Chicken Jockey Screenings” – exclusively in 4DX. This special one-day event will be taking place on Sunday, April 20. Customers are invited to dress up as their favorite Minecraft characters, whoop, yelp, clap and shout Chicken Jockey!

There are some rules we don’t break. So here’s the deal: build excitement? Absolutely. LOL with friends till you’re rolling in the aisles? Totally. But please don’t go full Creeper in the auditorium.

That last part is particularly noteworthy, as part of what has made Chicken Jockey a viral sensation is the manner in which moviegoers have behaved, including throwing popcorn, filming and causing all sorts of noise.

Asking people not to go “Full Creeper” for a theme night based around people doing exactly just that sounds like a recipe for disaster. Godspeed, movie theater employees.
