Final Fantasy 7is very much one of these games. In the past, auctions and store listings have seen collectors part with thousands of dollars in return for a sealed copy of the game. However, the price tag has very suddenly started to plummet.
Final Fantasy 7 Sealed Copies Are Being Sold For Hundreds, Not Thousands

The priciest was $6,500, although that was exceptionally costly due to the copy not even having a hole drilled in the middle, making it even rarer. The more typical listings, usually for factory-sealed copies, were in the range of $1,500 and $4,000.
However, since the new year, similar copies of the game have sold for around $200. The most expensive was one in January, which went for $500, but other than that, we’re selling sales of $221, $209, and $196.
Scouting around on eBay myself,some would-be sellersarestill tryingto get more than $1,000 for their rare copies of Final Fantasy 7. Thus far, it doesn’t seem that any of them have been successful this year, and buyers have instead managed to save themselves quite a bit of money.
There are a few reasons why this could be happening. For starters, none of the ones that have been sold this year were professionally graded, although not all of the big sellers from last year were either. We’re also seeing less variety, as none of the 2025 sales have any other oddities outside of being sealed, like being a first edition or a misprint. Still, this does appear to be quite cheap for the market, even with those considerations.
In any case, this is still a decent bit of money to make if you want to sell your copy. And if you’re looking to buy, it’s even better.
