How To Start Nature Vs Nurture
This quest will become unavailable if you have finished the Ancient Soil quest.
To start the side quest Nature vs Nurture, you’ll need tofind Dolina and Masco Laimain Emerald Stair. The closest Fast Travel point to them is Farmer’s Market Beacon. From there, follow the path east.

Keep an eye out fora dirt trail on your left. Take it, and you’ll enter Coastal Farm.
Turn left again at the first fork, head up the hill, and follow the winding path until you reach a wooden house at the top. Right outside, you’ll spot the two farmers.

Interact with either of the farmersto find out what’s going on. Dolina will ask you toinvestigate the Xaurip camp. Exhaust the dialogue options to gather more information if you want. Once you’re ready, head out.
The Xaurip Camp
The Xaurip camp is in the swamp to the northwest of Farmer’s Market. Expect plenty of tough enemies along the way and stock up on consumables before heading out.
You’ll find Belenna sitting alone by a campfire. Speak with her to start the Missing Rangers side quest.

Once you reach an area surrounded by wooden fences, head through the gate to enter a waterlogged area where the Xaurips are hanging out. The Xaurips here won’t attack you, yet. Sotake your time to explore and loot everythingin sight.
When you’re ready, climb the rock ledges to unlock the Fortified Xaurip Camp Beaconfor fast travel. At the top, you’ll spot a group of Xaurips dancing neara cave called Fortified Xaurip Camp.

Before heading inside, be sure to collect theMagran’s Fury,Hylea’s Talon, andHunt’s Hairnearby.
Fortified Xaurip Camp
Grab theHunt’s Hairon your right, then head straight ahead. You’ll come acrossthe Xaurips’ leader, Amadio, a cave-dwelling man surrounded by dancing Xaurips. Before speaking to him, be sure to pick upBurned LadyandHylea’s Talonfrom the ground.
Talk to Amadioand he’ll reveal himself as a hermit. If you’re an Arcane Scholar, you’ll recognize that Amadio is using some form of mind-control magic on them. At this point, you have two choices: side with the Amadio or support the farmers.

Nature Vs Nurture Consequences And Rewards
The outcome of Nature vs Nurture only affects your morality and the direction of your playthrough. The rewards remain the sameregardless of your choice:
For maximum XP gain, you’ll want to take down Amadio and clear out the entire Xaurip camp.

If You Side With The Hermit
After hearing Amadio’s reasoning, you can choose the dialogue option:“You’re just trying to protect the land. I support that”to side with the Hermit.
Then, you’ll need to return to the farmers andconvince them to call off the rangers, claiming the Xaurip threat is over. This gives you a chance toconvince Dolina to stop using the animancers' equipment. Without those machines, the Xaurips will leave them alone.

you may alsolie to the farmersand say that you took care of their problems.Dolina will reward you with the Ring of Pain Amplification, and the farmers will repair their machines. However, this means the Xaurips will continue their attacks.
Report back to Amadio. This time, you won’t need to enter Fortified Xaurip Camp. The hermit will be waiting for you in the swamp. Speak to him, andhe’ll reward you with his Wolf Boots. That means you don’t have to kill him to get this unique item.

If You Side With The Farmers
If you side with the farmers, simplychoose the dialogue options that reject Amadio’s beliefs. This will lead to a fight against him and a swarm of Xaurips in a cramped space. These enemies deal heavy damage and can quickly overwhelm youwith their number.
If needed, Fast Travel to a friendly location and stock up on potions before engaging.

You’ll want tofocus the Xaurip Shaman near Amadio firstso it won’t heal the other enemies. The other Xaurips will quickly close in on you, so try not to lose track of the Shaman.
After dealing with this healer, focus on the Xaurip Rangers and Skirmishers. The fight will be intense, requiring constant movement to dodge incoming attacks.AoE abilities are particularly useful here, as the limited space and sheer number of enemies make them highly effective.
Keep a close eye on your companions' HP. Heal them as soon as they get low. If they are completely downed, reviving them will be difficult due to the relentless Xaurip attacks. With no one left to distract the enemies, you won’t have enough time to heal them.
Once you’ve taken care of the Xaurips, now is the time tofocus on Amadio. He’ll throwiceballs that slow your movementandfireballs that inflict burns.
Amadio also has an AoE ability where hecalls down lightning to knock you backafter a short delay. The affected area will be marked in red. Stay out of it to avoid taking heavy damage. After defeating Amadio, loot his unique Wolf Boots.
At this point, the previously ‘friendly’ Xaurip camp will turn hostile. You can either fight them all for additional XP or Fast Travel back to Farmer’s Market to complete the quest.
Report to Dolina and Masco Laima, confirming the Xaurip threat is gone, and Dolina will reward you with the Ring of Pain Amplification.
