Summary
Silent Hill f’s ESRB rating has just gone live and, beyond spoiling some of the ways that its characters are going to die, it also confirms that guns aren’t going to be a part of combat.
After spending the last few yearswondering what the heck was going on with the next big Silent Hill game, the strangely-titled Silent Hill f, our questions were finally answered earlier this week. As part of a Silent Hill Transmission,Konami shared a new trailer for the game that showed off much more than ever before.
In fact, what we saw of Silent Hill f indicated that the game is getting along quite nicely in its development and doesn’t seem far off at all from releasing. No date was given in the trailer beyond a “Wishlist Now”, but it does seem to be in a good state. To add more fuel to that fire, a rather spoiler-filled ESRB rating for Silent Hill f just went live.
Potential spoiler warnings for Silent Hill f to follow.
Silent Hill f’s ESRB Rating Has Already Gone Live And It Reveals A Lot
Over on Twitter,Silent Hill insider Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer1) shared a tweet revealing that Silent Hill f’s ESRB rating had gone liveon the organisation’s website, revealing plenty about the game that we didn’t see in the trailer.Outside of story details, one of the biggest reveals is that the game seemingly won’t have guns at all.
One section of the rating confirms the game is in third-person and has you battling enemy creatures with “axes, crowbars, knives, and spears”, with no mention of guns at all. This makes sense considering the setting and time period, but it is quite a big departure fromother entries in the series, particularly Silent Hill 2.
That’s not all the ESRB rating revealed, though, as it also lists a number of deaths during cutscenes such as “a character burned alive inside a cage”, “a character sawing off her own arm”, and “a character slicing off portions of a character’s face during a ritual”. Funnily enough,we did see hints of some of those deaths in the trailer, but it looks like they really do happen.
I’m betting that the character sawing her own arm off is the game’s protagonist, Hinoka.
