Summary
Skyblivion isfinally set to launch this year, after more than a decade in development. This fan-made remake ofOblivionwithinSkyrimhas been a huge undertaking for the team, as fans eagerly await their take on an all-new Cyrodiil.
However, many felt sorry for the teamwhenBethesdasuddenly shadowdroppedOblivion Remastered, fearing that this would steal its thunder. It’s easy to see why, as Oblivion Remastered is performing excellently, proving to be an absolute hit.

Despite this, the Skyblivion team has ploughed ahead withno ill feelings towards Bethesda, or vice versa. In fact,Bethesda sent free copies of Oblivion Remastered to the teamas a show of good wiill - a very different approach than most studios would take when fans are working on a very similar project to an official release (looking at you, Take-Two).
Now, we have yet another indicator that the two teams get along just fine. As shared by the Sklyblivion Instagram account, Bethesda invited the team over to the studio, showing them around and getting some pictures together.
Bethesda Meets Skyblivion Developers
In the first image, Todd Howard himself had time to chat with the folks making Skyblivion. We also see the crew getting some snaps with the merch around the Bethesda building, and having a chat in one of the meeting rooms.
This all comes ahead of Skyblivion’s launch later this year. It still doesn’t have a firm release date, but the team says it will be with us at some point in 2025, finally bringing its 13-year development to a close. And while the release date might have been a little unfortunate, many fans are very happy, since it means we have two new ways to play Oblivion - and two excuses to return to Cyrodiil.
