Devolver Digitalshared the blessed news on Twitter, revealing that on April 25, four days after the Pope passed away and the day before his funeral, one person in Vatican City bought a copy of Cult of the Lamb. The first time anyone in the Vatican has bought the game based on the stat screenshot Devolver shared, and particularly amusing considering the content of the game in question.
The premise of Cult of the Lamb is that its main character is rescued by a god and then has to form a cult in their name to repay them for doing so. While the game doesn’t explicitly take place in hell, it uses a lot of imagery that’s inspired by it, and the game also leans heavily on various religions and the effect they can have on those who follow them.

All of that is why someone picking up Cult of the Lamb in the Vatican as everyone around them, and likely the new player themselves, was mourning the death of the Pope is pretty notable.
