Summary
It has been a long — and we mean long — time since there’s beena new entryin theSplinter Cellfranchise. How long might you ask? How does11 years since Splinter Cell Blacklist sound?
If it weren’t for random one-off appearances inUbisoft’s other core franchises, such asbeing added to Rainbow Six Siege, or as part ofthe now defunct XDefiant, then it’s likely we’d never hear about Sam Fisher otherwise.
Fear not, however, as one fan has taken it upon themselves to “enhance” the original Splinter Cell, and the project is out for everyone to experience.
Fine, I’ll Do It Myself Energy
Splinter Cell Enhanced is exactly what its name implies, it’s a suped up version of the original game that helped change the stealth genre back in 2022.
There are new custom loading screens that improve the story’s accuracy, plus cut content in the form of two new levels — Nuclear Power Plant and Severonickel — as well as a new challenge mode called “Elite,” where there is no starting ammo or quicksaves.
Beyond that, there are some nifty customization options for Sam, along with other bits and bobs that help make the experience more modern, such as improved controller support or the ability to use Thermal Vision across all levels.
Considering thatthe remake of Splinter Cell was announced all the way back in 2021, and since then,we haven’t heard much, the project could not have come at a better time. As it stands, the project has not been canceled, though it’s unclear when we’ll hear about it again.
