Loot Boxes Aside, Star Wars Battlefront 2 Was Always An Underrated Title

To start, the game, which originally had a 24-hour peak of 5,559 players around May 4, has seen another increase in player count. This time, its 24-hour peak is 6,463, an increase of nearly 1,000 players from its initial popularity spike.

Now, initially, that spike could be attributed to Star Wars Day. After all, there aren’t that many multiplayer-only Star Wars games that also feature as many characters from Star Wars lore as Battlefront 2 does.

However, now that it seems to be an actual increase and not a one-off, fans in the Star Wars subreddit are trying to figure out what’s happening.

“Andor got everyone excited to fight the Empire,“one user cheekily wrote. That’s a good possibility, as the second season of Andor did just finish its run.

Another user had a more detailed response, outlining the moment that Star Wars is having, even with seemingly limited content available.

The current Fortnite season is Star Wars-themed and really fun. It’s making people wish there was a big multiplayer SW game again, and BF2 is still great.

But more importantly, the devs recently patched BF2 for the first time in years in order to reduce cheating, which has plagued the game.

So it’s a much better experience to come back to.

Add in Andor + May 4 + game on sale super cheap, and we’re back, baby.

Whatever the case may be, it might be time for all of us to jump back into Battlefront 2. Who knows, maybe the increase in popularity could help will a Battlefront 3 into existence. Never say never.
