Summary

Stellar Blade’slong-awaited PC release is on the horizon, which brings with it an unlocked frame rate, ultrawide screen support, a bunch of new outfits, a new boss battle, and a lot more. Most importantly, it will be the first time a lot of people can try the game out, as Stellar Blade has been stuck on PS5 thanks to a publishing deal betweenPlayStationand developer Shift Up.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are being hit with the news that they may not be able to try out Stellar Blade after all, as PlayStation’s awkward PSN requirements have spoiled the fun once again. Just like with previous PlayStation games on Steam, the release of Stellar Blade has been blocked in over 130 countries, as that’s just what PlayStation does in countries in which PSN isn’t supported.

It’s baffled PC players for a while now, especially as PlayStation still does it even if a game is single-player. Stellar Blade appears to be affected thanks to an outfit you can unlock as part of an incentive to link your PSN and Steam accounts, but fans are still voicing their outrage on social media, especially those that are finding out they can’t buy the game anymore.

Stellar Blade Steam Release Blocked In Over 130 Countries Due To PSN Requirements

However, what’s more baffling is that it appears as though developer Shift Up had no idea this was going to happen either. Using the official Stellar Blade Twitter account to respond to angry fans,Shift Up confirmed that you don’t need a PSN account to play Stellar Blade, and it’s beenasking affected players where they live, seeminglyquite confused that they aren’t able to buy the game.

Given the confused response from the Stellar Blade Twitter account, it stands to reason that Shift Up has absolutely no idea that this is a PlayStation policy for its PC releases, despite the fact that Stellar Blade isn’t a first-party game. You may recall that Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead alsoran into similar problems back when the PSN requirementsfiasco was at its peak.

Not much has changed since then though, but hopefully another big developer in Shift Up running into issues and losing out on sales will prompt someone to put more pressure on Sony and get rid of these arbitrary restrictions.
