Nintendoof America’s president, Doug Bowser, has told fans to “stay tuned” when it comes to the prospect of a new 3DMariogame coming to theNintendo Switch 2.

Although this month’s reveal of theNintendo Switch 2 has been somewhat marred in a surprising amount of controversyfor such an anticipated console, the one thing that Nintendo absolutely got right was the games.Donkey Kong Bananza,Mario Kart World,The Duskbloods,Kirby Air Riders, and a whole lot more made for astar-studded line-up that’s easy to get excited about.

That being said, there was one massive omission that we were all certain we’d see announced at the event, or at the very least confirmed and teased to be coming soon - a new 3D Mario. Whenever a new Nintendo console launches, Mario isn’t far behind, but that wasn’t the case for the Nintendo Switch 2.

While most of us have figured out thatNintendo is instead giving that spotlight to Donkey Kong for onceand seemingly even putting the Odyssey team on DK’s big comeback, that still leaves a big question as to whether we’ll even see a new 3D Mario. As pointed out by My Nintendo News, this very subject wasbroached with Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser by CNN earlier this week.

When asked specificaly about a new mainline Mario game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 and why it wasn’t announced alongside the console,Bowser simply said to “stay tuned” and noted that the company has a big catalogue of games. That catalogue is one that Bowser is “sure will make its way to the platform.”

It’s about as much of a concrete answer as you’d expect from the typically secret Nintendo, but it does suggest that it’s well aware of the anticipation for a new 3D Mario and wants it to happen for the Switch 2. It’s always seemed like just a matter of time, but that’s even more the case now.
