Ging Freeccs is Gon’s father, whom Gon hasn’t seen since he was a baby. He shares a lot of visual features with his son, including his brown eyes and short stature. After qualifying as a Hunter, he became a Double-Star Ruins Hunter, and joined the Zodiac as the Boar.
GIng’s dedication to being a Hunter meant he wasn’t exactly adept at family life and raising Gon. Instead, he left Gon with the task of finding him alone. Definitely not ideal father material…

Isaac Netero is one ofthe most powerful Nen users in all of Hunter x Hunter, and used to be even stronger in his youth. He is the 12th Chairman of the Hunter Association and plays a key part in the fight against the Chimera Ants.
Netero likes to provide hefty challenges for Hunters, and enjoys recruiting new talent and testing what they can do. He’s certainly a spry old man for his age and keeps many of the Hunters on their toes, but is always ready to use his command over Nen when needed.

Born from the Chimera Ant Queen, Meruem instantly became known as the King of the Chimera Ants. His appearance tells you he was always meant to be an unstoppable force, from the giant stinger on his tail to his muscular body and helmet-like head.
Though Meruem starts off with a one-track mindset and is only interested in power, he develops human emotions and thoughts through his friendship with Komugi, a human girl whom he plays Gungi with.

Illumi is the eldest sibling in the Zoldyck family of assassins, with an overbearing desire to protect his younger brother, Killua, to the point where he placed a needle in Killua’s brain to prevent him from taking part in fights he couldn’t win.
Illumi has a very cold and emotionless demeanour, which makes him all the more dangerous. He is allied with Hisoka, and joined the Phantom Troupe as its 11th member when Hisoka asked him to.

The leader of the Phantom Trouple, Chrollo Lucilfer is one of Hunter x Hunter’s main antagonists. He is responsible for the massacre of the Kurta Clan, which is why Kurapika sees Chrollo as an arch enemy.
Alongside being incredibly smart and powerful by himself, Chrollo can also steal his opponent’s ability and use it against them. He has taken on Silva and Zeno of the Zoldyck assassin family alone, proving his level of strength.

Hisoka isHunter x Hunter’s first main antagonist; he has a bloodthirsty nature and develops an interest in Gon upon meeting him during the Hunter Exam. He sees Gon’s potential and wishes to fight against him once Gon has realised his true strength.
Hisoka’s Nen is Bungee Gum, which he, for some reason, loves to explain: it has the properties of both rubber and gum. Though he is part of the Phantom Troupe, Hisoka isn’t loyal to it and only cares for achieving his own plans and ambitions.

In the Hunter Exam, Leorio initially pretends he only wants to become a doctor so he can become rich, but he eventually tells the truth to Kurapika and reveals that he intends to help those in need. This Leorio’s true personality: kind and considerate.
Leorio becomes close to Gon, Killua, and Kurapika following the exam, and supports them all through their various challenges. Despite his appearance and tendency to look after those younger than him, he’s only young adult himself.

As the only surviving member of the Kurta Clan, Kurapika is hellbent on avenging his clan and retrieving their Scarlet Eyes. He meets Gon, Killua, and Leorio during the Hunter Exam, but leaves on his own path to achieve his goals.
He is a skilled Nen user and is primarily a Conjurer, using the chains he conjures on his right hand. He also uses a self-imposed limitation to increase his powers. Kurapika is now the protagonist of the Succession Contest arc in the manga.

Though he’s the heir to the Zoldyck family of assassins, Killua runs away to become a Hunter and takes part in the Hunter Exam, where he meets his best friend, Gon. Having been raised as an assassin and forced to only see his worth in his ability to kill, Killua struggles with seeing his self-worth elsewhere.
He is fiercely protective of Gon and his sister, Alluka, and is always ready to use his Nen or assassination abilities to protect them.
