Everywhere you go, people are mentioning cozy games. If you aren’t familiar with the genre, you may just be thinking about farming simulators, but the genre can be so much more, especially in recent years.
If you are looking for a good cozy story game that involves some plot twists, you’ve come to the right place. In this list, we’ll take a look at some cozy games that will take you through twists and turns. We aren’t going to look too deeply into the specifics though, so you don’t need to worry about reading any spoilers that could bring down your experience.

Everyone has their own definition of what cozy is, and that’s okay! These are just some of our favorites that deliver a great story with twists.
At first glance, Beacon Pines looks like an adorable storybook game, but there ismuch more than meets the eye here. At its core, Beacon Pines is a visual novel that takes place within a book where you play as the reader and the main character.

This unique way of story delivery makes for a memorable gameplay experience. What’s more, the story is absolutely fantastic, filled with emotional twists and turns that may even leave you shedding a tear or two.
Life Is Strange: True Colors is part of the Life Is Strange franchise, serving as the third main game in the series (but before this also came Life Is Strange: Before The Storm and The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit). In True Colors, you play as Alex Chen, who is an empath.

As with every game in the franchise, you’re able to find an impactful and well-written story. The main tagline of the game is to find out the truth about her now-deceased brother. Of course, this means that there are some twists expected.
Outer Wilds is a phenomenal game that starts out cozy and vibey but expands into something much bigger. Upon starting, you may think that Outer Wilds is arelaxed space exploration game, but there is a surprising amount of story and emotion here.

Rather than playing this game over and over again, playing it once will give you the full experience. Once the pieces click into place and you beat the game, you’ll wish that you could forget it and start all over again.
Night in the Woods is a fairly short and sweet game where you play as Mae, who has returned to her hometown after dropping out of college. Things aren’t simple and easy though; the town is differnt and of course, there is something in the woods.

Everything from the story to the artwork of Night in the Woods is phenomenal. Additionally, the game deals with serious topics about mental health, which can be relatable to many players.
3Chronicles of Tal’Dun: The Remainder
Next up, we have Chronicles of Tal’Dun: The Remainder. Following the story of two magi trapped in a tower after a failed ritual, the game is awonderful visual novel with tons of content; the official Steam page notes that there areover 500 choices for you to make, 50 false endings, and three true endings.
While the plot that we mentioned seems rather straightforward, it may not even be the case at all. This information is given by Ilar, but are they telling the truth? It’s up to you (as Vyn) to uncover the truth and decide what is going on.

Spiritfarer is the ultimate emotional journey. While the game seems like a cozy sea exploration game where you travel on an oversized ship, you quickly learn your true goal. Playing as Stella, your goal is to ferry spirits and release them into the afterlife.
The first time we played Spiritfarer, we cried pretty much every time we brought a spirit through the Everdoor.
Based on the description alone, you can pretty much assume that things get sad. While this air of sadness remains, the game itself is still a wonderfully cozy experience that will leave a lasting impression on you.
Last but not least, we have Oxenfree. This is another story-filled game with a bit of a darker twist as well. Oxenfree is a game about a teenage party gone wrong. By wrong, we mean that the partygoers (including you and your stepbrother) accidentally own a ghostly rift.
Make no mistake though, Oxenfree does involve some scary elements. This may not sound the coziest, but the actual gameplay mechanics aren’t too strenuous, so you can definitely sit back and get cozy while playing.
