Custom spells are your big ticket to magical mastery inOblivion Remastered. They’re such a cool concept that Elder Scrolls fans have been bummed since time immemorial that Skyrim did away with them, and they can be immensely powerful, to boot. But they can also be a real waste of time and resources. It’s best to think big.
We’ve selected some of the very best custom spells for Oblivion Remastered, the stuff that’ll really set you apart from your adversaries, that’ll give you a quantifiable edge, or make life easier while adventuring. These are the sorcery cream of the crop, and they can be yours.

If you haven’t unlocked spellcrafting yet,we have a guide on how to do exactly that!
Best Custom Spells
The wayspellcraftingworks in Oblivion, you’re going to be looking for the best possible effectsto imbue, and then building toward that end. Since it’struly a fully customized approach to spellcraft, it’sallabout those effects.
Thus, our guide is going to look specifically at those effects, rather than filling your head with made-up names (you can name your spells however you like, after all). These arethe best effects you can work towardonce you have access to the system.
Explanation
Open Very Hard Lock
Bypass Oblivion’s lockpicking minigame entirely, and never need to purchase lockpicks again.
Chameleon
Renders you unseen for x amount of time. Frequently combined with Open Very Hard Lock for flawless breaking-and-entering.
Absorb Health
If you can crank the parameters high enough on this effect, you can effectively maintain yourself in battle nigh-indefinitely,
while dealing twice as much damage to your enemies than you otherwise would.
Shield
WithShieldcast, your armor value will skyrocket. If you’ve got this amped up enough in strength and duration, you can
essentially eschew Heavy Armor and even Light Armor, which makes this perfect for mage-type characters, whose defense
will not always be the best, to say the least.
Drain Intelligence
Ramping up your Intelligence for a time, while reducing the enemy’s, makes Drain Intelligence excellent if you’re a mage. But
don’t discount its effectiveness even if you aren’t, as you candebilitatepowerful mage enemies in this fashion.
Drain Magicka
This one is certainly designed more exclusively for mages. As your enemies lose Magicka, you’re able to replenish your own pool,
letting you cast powerful spells more frequently.
Drain Strength
Use this on the most melee-oriented boss fights to trivialize their damage output.
Burden
Overburdening isn’t just a hindrance for the player. It can cause your enemies to cramp up, too, rendering them immobile.
Weakness to (Element)
Inflicting specific elemental weaknesses on enemies can be immensely useful if you have access to powerful spells or weapon
enchantments of that element. The strongest versions of these spells will already deal significant damage on Adept. If you’re on
Expert and above, this is a good one-two punch for ripping through even the highest HP pools.
Fortify Sneak
Useful forthief-types, of course. But arguably more so forotherbuilds. If you can Fortify Sneak well enough, you’ll have a far
easier time on thievery-oriented quests and general stealth missionseven if you’re wielding Heavy Armorand the like. This is,
at times, the only decent way to circumvent such potential limitations.
Fortify Speechcraft
If your Speechcraft skill isn’t the best, but you need to raise an NPC’s disposition stat above your current max capability,
Fortify Speechcraft will do the trick.
Fortify Mercantile
Use this right before entering shop screens. Haggling will be easier and more effective. You can save thousands of gold throughout
Oblivion Remastered with relative ease in this fashion. It really adds up!
Water Walking
Invaluable for saving time when exploring. More impressively, it works on lava. That’s right, lava. you’re able to venture through Oblivion
