Building a complete deck inPokemon Pocketcan be difficult, and especially so if you’re new to the game. Collecting specific cards from a pool of over a hundred per expansion, and often needing to pull from multiple expansion packs to get everything you need, takes a long time, a lot of luck, or both.

Luckily, even if you aren’t running the top tier decks, you’re able to still find success in Solor or Ranked matches using decks of easier-to-get cards. Below, we’ll take a look at a few decks that are perfect for new players due to their relative ease to build, as well as which ex deck you should choose from the Shining Revelry event.

Which Shining Revelry Starter Deck Should You Choose?

The ex Starter Deck Missions event allows you to choose one ofnine premade decksafter opening just five booster packs. This gives you aDeck Ticket, which you’re able to redeem for one of the nine decks.

If you really want to optimize your collection, you should wait until the end of the event and choose the pack with the most unowned cards. However, if you want to get started on Ranked matches, you may be wondering which of these decks performs the best.

Of these options, theGiratina ex Deck,Beedrill ex Deck, andCharizard ex Deckwill give the best results. However, Giratina works best when used with a wall like Druddigon and support from Darkrai ex, so unless you have these cards already, it may be a better idea to go forBeedrill or Charizard, as theirpackages are more complete.

That said, the Giratine ex Deck contains Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam, which are great cards that make up the majority of a deck we’ll look at later.

In particular, Beedrill ex is a great option because it includesSprigatito, Floragato, and Meowscarada, which are important cards for theanti-ex Meowscarada deckthat does extremely well. We’ll take a more detailed look at this deck in the next section.

This deck relies on Meowscarada’s attack to deal high damage to ex Pokemon, which dominate the meta. Since Meowscarada itself is not an ex Pokemon, it’s relatively easy to put this deck together, especially if you choose the Beedrill ex Deck from the Starter Deck Mission.

you’re able to alsoswap out some of the Trainer Cardsto complete the deck a bit easier. Red makes the deck run a bit smoother against ex Pokemon, but you can replace him if you don’t have him yet.

Snorlax acts as a tank, allowing you to safely evolve Meowscarada, while using Barry to get in some damage with Snorlax if you have extra energy. Just keep in mind that this deckcan struggle if your opponent is not using ex Pokemon, so play carefully and plan accordingly.

This deck uses only cards obtained from Genetic Apex packs, and offers a powerful budget option for newer players. The core of this deck is Blaine. When played, he willboost the Active Ninetales, Rapidash, or Magmar’s damage by 30. With their low energy cost, this means you can get out high damage very early in the game.

Even some S-Tier decks can have trouble against this deck’s speed and damage, making it a great option not only for beginners but well into future metas as well.

This deck uses theGenetic Apex versions of Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazamtopunish Energy-generating decks, which will always be prevalent in the meta. Mythical Slab, from the Mythical Island expansion, helps draw into your Pokemon, but this can be replaced withPokemon Communicationor any other helpful Trainer cards and Tools, if you want.

If you chose theGiratina ex Starter Deck, you can run an alternate but equally powerful version of this deck that uses theShining Revelry versions of the Abra line. Shining Revelry Alakazam is also great at punishing Pokemon that sit on the bench and generate Energy, like Giratina, making this deck a great counter to that.
