The Scaldra’s weaponry sits in a sort of middle ground between the two extremes, taking contemporary weapon designs and adding a sci-fi spin to them. Ballistic weapons with unique fire modes, damage types, or strange stats are what you can expect here.
The EFV-8 Mars is a standard semi-auto pistol that has been infused with unique properties, featuring an underbarrel grenade launcher and an affinity for Corrosive damage. Today, we’ll be looking at how to get the EFV-8 Mars, explain how its grenade alt-fire works, and showcase a good build that works in endgame content.
How To Obtain EFV-8 Mars
The EFV-8 Mars is obtained throughMinerva’s shop in the Hollvania hub, a location you’ll unlock upon completing “The Hex” quest. Her shop will become accessible once you reach max rank with The Hex Syndicate.
Parts for the EFV-8 may be purchased for Hex Standing, although you’ll only receive components blueprints. Each component must then be crafted in your Orbiter’s Foundry before the gun may be assembled. Fortunately, the components to craft this weapon are fairly common, consisting of resources from the main Star Chart and 1999 content.

The EVF-8 Mars is a semi-auto pistol that features high critical stats and an above-average fire rate. Its base damage is somewhat low for its primary fire, although the EVF-8 Mars makes up for this with its AoE alt-fire.The secondary fire will launch a grenade at the target’s location, dealing Corrosive damage within a three-meter radius.This AoE shot costs three ammo to use.
For practical use, the EFV-8 Mars should be used as a secondary grenade launcher, defeating groups of targets with its AoE explosions. The primary fire for this weapon is mediocre at best when compared to the likes of theVesper 77or Lex Prime.
EFV-8 Mars Builds
If you’re using the EFV-8 Mars, there’s a good chance you’re focusing on its alternate fire. The build we’ll be showcasing below focuses on maximizing its DPS while making the primary fire a decent option for cleaning up weaker targets.
Variant
EFV-8 Mars
Scaling the explosive damage of the alt-fire will require us to forgo Galvanized Shot on this build. We’ll instead be using Semi-Pistol Cannonade and Secondary Merciless to scale our base damage. Throw on Galvanized Diffusion and Lethal Torrent for some multishot, and your build’s foundation should be set.
Primed Fulmination isn’t a requirement, but it does greatly increase the blast radius of your grenades. We can make them hit even harder with critical mods, opting for Primed Pistol Gambit and Primed Target Cracker. We finish the build with an elemental combo. Use a combined element that’s exploits your enemy faction’s vulnerabilities. We use Corrosive in the above example, ideal against Grineer.
