Insect Glaive is one of the most unique weapons inMonster Hunter Wilds, and it can also be considered one of the most difficult. While the weapon itself doesn’t have difficult combos, you have the added aspect of a Kinsect that you need to manage during fights.
You have to collect buffs from monster parts to enhance your weapon and also spend time developing your Kinsect so that your weapon deals the most damage possible. If you are interested in playing with the Insect Glaive, here’s a detailed guide that will help you get ready.

Insect Glaive Build Overview
Insect Glaive is all aboutmanaging your Kinsect buffs when fighting a monster. There is a Red, White, and Yellow buff that you can collect from a monster when fighting with an Insect Glaive. Each of these buffs has value, and youneed to make the Kinsect hit specific monster partsto collect them.
Once your weapon has all the buffs, you can then perform combos with your Insect Glaive to deal high damage. However, for this, yourKinsect needs to be leveled up, and your weapon needs the standard damage perks such as Critical Boost and Weakness Exploit.

However, you must remember that getting a build in place won’t be easy since you are limited to what kind of Decorations you’re able to attach to your weapon or armor. This means you will spend a lot of time farming as Insect Glaive is extremely stats-dependent, and you need to optimize your build for the best results.
The best monsters to farm for endgame Decorations are Tempered Arkveld and Tempered Gore Magala. Make sure to have a look on the map so that you don’t miss the ones that offer several Decorations.

Here’s a rundown of the Insect Glaive build that you should be running:
Charm
Exploiter Charm 2
In theweapon slot, your best bet is togo with the Artian-crafted weapon Diprielchawith full focus on the Dragon Element. It is also recommended that youcraft the weapon with three Attack Infusionssince that is recommended for an Insect Glaive. Additionally, you need to attach a Razor Sharp/Dragon Jewel Level Three for theRazor Sharp SkillandDragon Attack skill.
Additionally, attach one more Dragon Attack Jewel to increase the overall Dragon elemental damage. Critical Jewel Level Three providesCritical Boost, which is also required to optimize damage.

If you don’t want Sharpness, you can use a Dragon Jewel Level Three and add a second Critical Jewel Level Three for more Critical Boost. However, elemental boosts are worth going, especially when you have Burst and Coalescence in your build.
Additionally, if you don’t have an Artian weapon, you can go for Leumundsgift, which is the Gore Magala Insect Glaive. However, the Artian weapon offers way too much value, especially with three Level Three Jewel slots.
When it comes toKinsect, go withMonarch Alucanid. You can obtain it by leveling up the Culldrone to Rarity 4 from Gemma. The Monarch Alucanid providesElement Boostfrom its Kinsect Combo, and it also comes with Stamina Recovery. Both of these are good buffs to have for your Insect Glaive build.
In thehead slot, G. Ebony Helm Beta comes with one Level Two Jewel slot, where you need to attach the Phoenix Jewel Level Two. This will give you theCoalescence skill, which increases your elemental damage whenever a blight is cured. Hence, it’s quite easy to trigger this skill in battle, as you will be affected by blight quite frequently.
In thechest slot, go with Arkvulcan Mail Beta, which provides Weakness Exploit Level One. Additionally, it comes with a Level Three and Level Two Jewel Slot, where you need to attach a Chain Jewel Three and a Phoenix Jewel Two, respectively. Chain Jewel Three provides theBurst skill, which increases attack and elemental damage upon dealing consistent damage to monsters. Phoenix Jewel Level Two increases the Coalescence level.
In thehands slot, go with G. Ebony Bracers Alpha, which givesBurst Level TwoandDivine Blessing Level One. However, it doesn’t come with any Decoration slots, but those are worth sacrificing for the buffs you get from the armor piece.
In thewaist slot, go with Gore Coil Beta, which comes with a Level Three and Level Two Jewel slot. Here, you need to slot in Tenderizer Jewel Level Three to increase the level ofWeakness Exploitand a Phoenix Jewel Level Two to takeCoalescenceto maximum.
Finally, in thelegs slot, go with Gore Greaves Beta, which also comes with a Level Three Jewel Slot in addition to two Level One Jewel slots. In the Level Three slots, go with Tenderizer Jewel Two, and in the Level One slots, add Sane Jewel Level One. Here, Sane Jewel gives you theAntivirus buff, which helps increase Affinity when Frenzy is cured. You get inflicted by Frenzy through the Black Eclipse buff from the two-piece Gore Magala Gear.
In the Charm slot, go withExploiter Charm Level Two, which comes with Weakness Exploit Level Two, which helps to take that skill to its maximum.
If you want, you can replace Exploiter Charm Two with Challenger Charm for some Agitator. However, that will depend on your personal preference.
