Sciel can be a tricky character to get right inClair Obscur: Expedition 33.Her tempo-based combat style requires precise management of her AP and can leaver her with less flexibility in clutch situations than other party members, but with the right setup she can become a fearsome damage dealer and an excellent support character all in one.
By the end of the game, Sciel makes a great team player who can complement any party, especially in boss fights. Whether you need healing, buffs, or damage, she can do it all, and she has plenty of other tricks up her sleeve as well.
Best Weapon And Attributes For Sciel
Sciel has a lot of excellent weapon options, but the one with the most overall utility isBourgelon, which can be obtained and upgraded byhunting the giant Bourgeons around the Continent. It’s a Light-elemental weapon, which complements Sciel’s existing suite of powers, butbe sure to include some Dark attacks in her loadoutin case you run into Light-resistant foes.
The best Attributes for Bourgelon areAgility and Vitality, making Sciel as quick and durable as she is powerful when they’re fully leveled up. Once both are at 99,put the remaining points into Luck. This will help shore up her somewhat lackluster Defense and give her more opportunities for Critical Hits.
Bourgelon Traits (At Level 20+)
The bonus damage from Burn isn’t just on stacks applied by Sciel - pairing her with Maelle and/or Lune and piling Burn onto a foe can deal tens or even hundreds of thousands of damage per round while she’s in Twilight!
Best Skills For Sciel
With Bourgelon equipped, it can actually be better tobuild up a few Sun Chargesbefore using a Moon Skill to enter Twilight. For that reason, whileFocused Foretellisn’t the most impressive Skill in Sciel’s loadout, it’s a dirt-cheap way to get Sun Charges, andpractically guarantees she’ll never have to resort to Base Attacks.
Opening a fight withRushis a cheap way to get a Sun Charge, and speeds up the entire party.
As long as you’re efficiently generating AP, though,Spectral Sweepis a better way of applying Foretell, and it deals more damage to boot. It’s more than triple the cost, but worth it.Cast Spectral Sweep when you can, and Focused Foretell when you can’t.
When the time comes to switch to Twilight, use eitherIntervention or Grim Harvestto generate the necessary Moon Charge. Grim Harvest provides a heal to the party, but eats up Foretell; Intervention, meanwhile,doesn’t consume any Foretell, instead giving another character an extra turn and 4 AP to spend during it.
Consuming Foretell applies Burn via Bourgelon, so Grim Harvest can add stacks while healing.
If you save your Foretell via Intervention, spend the first Twilight Turn getting to maximum Foretell on a target via Spectral Sweep, thenhit them with Phantom Blade on the second Twilight Turnfor a massive chunk of Dark damage.
Be wary of Skills like Sealed Fate with Bourgelon; Sealed Fatedoesn’t consume Foretell on Critical Hits, which saves the stack but also doesn’t trigger Bourgelon’s Burn effect.

With as versatile a loadout as Sciel’s she has lots of opportunities for useful synergies with her Luminas. In addition to must-haves likeCheaterandPainted Power, try equipping her with these combos.
AP Luminas
Sciel needs to stay on top of her Skills' AP demands at all times.Energising Start 1, Energising Turn, andDead Energyall help with this.Energising Rushalso helps refund most of the cost of casting Rush, and tops up the entire team.
Weakness Gainisn’t always useful since Sciel has limited elements to work with, but at 3 LP it’s worth equipping for when you find yourself facing Nevrons with Light and Dark weaknesses.
Support Luminas
Rather than going all-in on damage,focus on making the most of Sciel’s support abilities.Protecting Healforms the basis of this byapplying Shell whenever you heal an ally via Grim Harvest.From there, equipPowerful on ShellandLonger Shellto extend the duration of the buff andadd an attack increase on top of it.
Since Sciel is helping keep the whole party alive,Teamworkgives her a damage boost just for doing her job.
Damage Luminas
Double Burnis expensive, and the Pictos is probably better servedequipped to Maelle, but if you can swing the 30 LP required for it, Bourgelon becomes absolutely lethal. If it’s too expensive,Burn Affinity and Critical Burncan at least let you take advantage of the fires you’ll be setting throughout each battle.
