Summary

If you’ve just started playingMarvel Snap, you’ve probably realized that randomly tossing cards into a deck won’t take you far—unless your strategy is “chaotic neutral.” To win consistently, you’ll want to build around a theme.

Destroy and Discard decks are popular for a reason, and centering your deck around a key card like High Evolutionary or Cerebro can really bring things together (or apart, in Destroy’s case). While there are plenty of destroy-related cards in the game, only some truly shine when they blow up—or when something else gets blown up first. So, here’s a list of the best on-destroy effects that explode with potential.

Nova card from Marvel Snap.

This list only includes cards that trigger an effect when they are destroyed or when other cards are destroyed. Cards that destroy other cards are not included in this list.

10Uncle Ben

Ben’s Out, Spidey’s In

Uncle Ben may not have the best on-destroy effect, but he can be useful in certain situations. While he doesn’t fit into every destroy deck, he can work well in highly specific ones. When Uncle Ben is destroyed, a Spider-Man card replaces him. Spider-Man then moves to another location and pulls an opponent’s card with him.

Uncle Ben works particularly well with cards like Killmonger and Lady Deathstrike, which can easily destroy him. Additionally, since Spider-Man moves, he synergizes with cards like Spider-Man (Miles Morales) that become more functional when movement is involved.

Angel card from Marvel Snap.

9Nova

Turn Nova’s Destruction Into Pure Power!

Nova is a low-cost and highly effective card in destroy decks. When Nova is destroyed, all your cards gain power. While it may seem like a small effect, there are many synergistic cards that benefit from it. For instance, you can easily destroy Nova with cards like Killmonger or Carnage. The power boost Nova provides is especially important for cards like Nimrod and Deadpool.

When Nimrod is destroyed, it adds copies to other locations, and having high power is crucial. Deadpool, on the other hand, doubles his power when destroyed, making Nova an essential card for these decks.

Wolverine card from Marvel Snap.

8Angel

One Card Falls, Another Takes Flight.

Angel might not have the flashiest on-destroy effect, but it’s definitely one of the more satisfying ones. When one of your cards is destroyed, Angel flies in to take its place. That effect works whether he’s in your hand or your deck, which makes him a flexible option.

Previously, this only worked if Angel was in your deck—but the updated version is stronger, both in stats and usability. Playing him for free is always helpful, but if you have a strategy in place for what to do after he lands, he becomes a lot more effective. Think of him as a winged backup plan with attitude.

Sabretooth card from Marvel Snap.

7Bucky Barnes

Small Stats, Big Comeback.

Bucky Barnes might seem underwhelming at first glance due to his weak stats, but his real strength kicks in when he’s destroyed. Once Bucky is taken out, he’s replaced by the much stronger Winter Soldier, jumping from one to seven power—which is a great deal for a two-cost card. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to trigger this transformation.

Cards like Carnage and Deathlok can easily do the job. Just be careful not to go overboard with your destruction plan, because once Winter Soldier hits the board, you definitely don’t want him getting blown up too. Some soldiers deserve to stick around.

Firehair card from Marvel Snap.

6Wolverine

Wolverine’s Back, Stronger Than Ever!

One of Wolverine’s most iconic traits is his regeneration, and Marvel Snap mirrors that perfectly. When Wolverine is destroyed or discarded, he regenerates at a random location and gains two power. This makes him especially valuable in decks that rely on destruction. The more cards that destroy others, the stronger Wolverine becomes.

Therefore, Wolverine is a great fit for both Destroy and Discard decks. By using cards with destruction effects, such as Carnage, Deathlok, or Venom, you can make Wolverine a powerful and functional part of your deck. He’s a force to be reckoned with, even in the toughest situations!

X-23 card from Marvel Snap.

5Sabretooth

Sabretooth is a highlyeffective card in destroy decks. While he doesn’t gain strength like Wolverine, destroying him isn’t a problem, as he will return to your hand with zero cost. This makes his destruction a non-issue, and since he returns to your hand, you can place him in a location where you’re struggling.

However, one thing to watch out for is not destroying Sabretooth in the final turn. If he’s destroyed last, he will return to your hand, which could work against you. Cards like Venom work well in synergy with Sabretooth, as Venom will absorb his power, making for a great combo.

Deadpool card from Marvel Snap.

4Firehair

Make Every Destruction Count!

Firehair is a unique on-destroy card that can really turn the tide in your favor if your deck is built around it. Firehair triggers the On Reveal effects of your destroyed cards. While its synergy is limited and not every card works well with it, it pairs excellently with cards like Misery.

When used with these high-synergy cards, Firehair becomes a powerful tool. Additionally, destroying cards like Yondu and Cable to trigger their On Reveal effects once more will make life difficult for your opponent. With the right setup, Firehair can be a game-changer.

Nimrod card from Marvel Snap.

3X-23

Quick Destruction, Quicker power!

X-23 is a cheap and highly effective cardin destroy decks. When X-23 is discarded or destroyed, much like Wolverine, she spawns in a random location. However, unlike Wolverine, instead of gaining power, X-23 grants you energy in the next turn. This allows you to play powerful cards before your opponent.

To bring out cards like Death early, you can destroy X-23 and Wolverine multiple times, creating opportunities to deploy your heavy hitters quickly. With cards like Killmonger and Venom, you can destroy X-23 multiple times, maximizing the extra energy for even greater plays.

2Deadpool

One Cost, Endless Power!

When it comes to regeneration, Deadpool is likely the first character that comes to mind, even before Wolverine. This fourth-wall-breaking mercenary has an incredibly powerful effect. Every time Deadpool is destroyed, his power doubles and he returns to your hand. Since his cost is just one, you can easily play him.

If your deck has plenty of destroy effects, Deadpool can quickly become a powerhouse. Before destroying him, if you have cards that boost his power, especially Nova, Deadpool will transform into a nightmare for your opponent. Cards like Hulkbuster also synergize well with Deadpool, further increasing his power.

1Nimrod

One Nimrod Is Powerful—Two? Game-Changing!

Nimrod has a powerful on-destroy effectthat can make winning much easier. When Nimrod is destroyed, you add a copy of him to the other locations. What makes Nimrod even stronger is if you’ve boosted his power before he’s destroyed, you’ll have two strong Nimrods in other locations.

For example, if you destroy Nimrod with Arnim Zola, two additional copies of Nimrod are added to the other two locations, giving you a sudden 12 power boost. You can also experiment with different synergies with Nimrod. Just make sure not to play him too late—cards like X-23 can help you play him early for maximum impact.
