Monster Hunter Wildsis home to a lot ofintimidating beastsand some equally cute critters. The cutest one of all is your personal Palico, a feline friend who helps you hunt monsters. Your Palico can heal you or debilitate monsters with an elemental weapon. If you get knocked out, they carry you back to camp.
Just like your hunter, your Palico needs proper equipment for its expeditions. You can get by without upgrading weapons, at least for the main story, but forging new Palico armour is a must. Here are some of the equipment sets you should keep an eye out for: some have very distinctive appearances.
In the post-game, hunting Tempered Monsters will give you access to more powerful versions of these sets.
8Felyne Chatacabra Set

The long-tongued Chatacabra is your first challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds: defeating it isn’t just your introduction to thenew and improved gameplay, but also to the crafting mechanics. After the fight, you can forge the Chatacabra set.
While you probably won’t upgrade Palico armour as often as your hunter’s, you should forge this set. This armour comes with a blunt weapon and gives your Palico some base defence, though not much in the way of elemental resistance. On the plus side, it gives them a cute hood and a snug outfit.
7Felyne Bone Set

The bone set isn’t impressive in its defence stats, but it doesn’t lower your Palico’selemental resistanceslike other armours do. It won’t make your Palico much more resistant to enemy attacks, but it will help them resist fire, thunder, and dragon-based attacks.
Unlike other equipment sets requiring you to harvest monsters after defeating them, the Bone set can have its raw materials salvaged from bonepiles throughout the game. It gives your Palico an eerie skeletal appearance.
6Felyne Doshaguma Set

Trying to accrue resistance with this armour set is futile. On the other hand, its weapon has relatively high damage, and it has good base defence. You can get the raw materials for this armour set by defeating the Doshaguma, encountered soon after your party reaches the village of Kunafa.
The Doshaguma Knuckle, in particular, gives your Palico excellent melee and ranged attack power. This armour set can also be upgraded in the post-game bydefeating a tempered Doshaguma- look for an especially scarred beast.
5Felyne Ajarakan Set

For this armour set, you’ll need to defeat the Ajarakan. Luckily for you, the story pits you against two of them at once - in the middle of a tar pit that’s ablaze. To avoid getting knocked out, you should have aCool Drinkin your inventory.
The Felyne Ajarakan Set, unlike the equipment your Palico has worn thus far, will have blast damage - allowing them to stun enemies with small explosions. It also has decent defence and fire resistance.
4Felyne Hirabami Set

If you have tutorials enabled, Monster Hunter Wilds will repeatedly encourage you to use a dung pod to separate Hirabamis before taking them on. If you want to get your Palico the full Felyne Hirabami Set, ignore this advice and hunt them all.
The Felyne Hirabami Set gives your Palico impressive ice resistance and also severing damage that’s useful forcreating wounds, a new mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds. Also, it makes them look wiser and more cuddly. you may pass on the helm, but you should craft the weapon from this set.
3Felyne Rompopolo Set

The Rompopolo armour is futuristic and has a tinge of sci-fi. It’s also downright horrific: if you want to put your Palico’s brain in a jar, we won’t stop you, but just know that you’re able to turn off this armour’s appearance in your tent while retaining its stats.
The Rompopolo Blaster in this set can poison enemies, making it ideal if you want your Palico to constantly dish out low-level attacks. Status effects add up in Monster Hunter Wilds: with no health bar, the best course of action is simply to chip away at the monsters' health until you win.
2Felyne Nu Udra Set

If you thought the Rompopolo armour was horrific, just wait until you see the Nu Udra set. This equipment turns your Palico into a little octopus. If you have a strong stomach, you might even be able to sit through your Palico’s appearance in cutscenes after this.
Capcom must be playing a cruel prank on us because the Nu Udra set’s stats are too good to pass up. It has fire elemental damage and high fire resistance. If you’re going to hunt a tempered Ajarakan, this armour will make you unstoppable.
1Felyne Xu Wu Set

Mercifully, the second tentacled monster you encounter does not turn your cat companion into a little octopus. Instead, it gives them an appearance akin to a ninja. It also gives them water powers.
With its high defence and elemental resistances, the Xu Wu set is one of the best in the campaign - though you can only get it near the end. In the post-game, you can upgrade it to make it even more powerful by forging the Felyne Xu Wu Alpha Set. That’s a mouthful.
