Alchemy is one of the most fundamentally helpful mechanics inOblivion Remastered. While it can be ignored altogether, you will doubtless find yourself spending tons of gold on store-bought potions if you choose to go that route. Or, you can hang on to your money, but suffer the consequences of debuffs galore and missed opportunities to dispatch your foes more swiftly.
We’ve picked our favourite potions. Earlier entries emphasize, in part, the ease at which they can be crafted, although our number one choice is even simpler fare. Every pick weighs the number of incidents in which we have found these recipes to be immensely helpful.

9Feather +Fortify Speed
Feeling the urge to loot everything you see? Overencumbered by this primal urge, and thus, terribly frustrated that you need to either be far choosier, or come all the way back later on to pillage what you left behind?
Featherlightens the load by decreasing your Encumbrance for however long it’s in effect.Fortify Speedwill hasten you along if your Speed stat is not yet maxed out, which gives you more time to get out of there and take your stuff to a safe spot before you need to chug another of these fantastic little potions.

8Resist Disease
A straightforward potion, as most of our earlier entries on this list ought to be, the Resist Disease potion will lessen the odds that you’ll be inflicted with a messy disease in Oblivion Remastered.
If our count is correct - and even if it isn’t, it’s surely close - there are a grand total of 34 diseases in this game. That is, suffice it to say, a lot of opportunities to suffer some substantial consequences which can only be cured a handful of ways. Let’s not get sick, right?

7Water Walking
While there are other ways to enable Water Walking, but chugging a potion for it is a surefire way to make it happen even if you aren’t playing a character who is proficient enough in magics to cast it yourself.
Water Walking is a great way to cross bodies of water with ease, not needing to fret over the possibility of sea-dwellers attacking you. Land-dwellers will, obviously, also have a tough time. Air-dwellers - we’re not sure why we keep using “-dwellers”, but here we are - will still be a threat, but that’s two out of three knocked out of the running.

Best of all, Water Walking works to cross lava in Oblivion Planes. Damage will still be dealt, but you can circumvent all sorts of trouble in this fashion.
6Fortify Strength+Fortify Health
If you’re a weapon-slinging sort, and that weapon involves Blade or Blunt sorts (or your bare hands!), thenFortify Strengthwill bring your enemies down faster, as you’ll deal more damage per strike. And, since you’re going to be bludgeoned in kind for your short-range efforts,Fortify Healthwill help you to survive the punishment.
It’s a great combo, and once again, it’s fairly easy to craft.

5Fortify Intelligence+Fortify Magicka+ Restore Magicka
This is essentially the equivalent of our last entry, but for mages.Fortify Intelligenceups your total Magicka, which, in turn, assists you in the ability to use higher-tier spells, even if you can’t normally access them due to a lower Magicka.Fortify Magicka, frankly, does the same thing (more or less) - but combining them is key to especially rad results.
Restore Magicka will keep you as close to topped off as possible, allowing you to continue your spell-slinging without much delay.

4Invisibility + Night Eye
Invisibility + Night Eye is perfect for sneakier sorts. Invisibility completely hides you from your foes for however long the effect is active, although you will still make sounds. Nevertheless, it’s fantastic; it’s great for sneak builds, but it’s well worth investing in for louder sorts like melee builds, because you might otherwise have no real way of going about undetected.
Night Eye improves your character’s eyesight in dark places. You could do the same with something like a torch, but is a torch going to keep you hidden? It would, in fact, heighten everybody’s awareness of your presence. Combine these two for good results.

3Cure Disease
You are, inevitably, going to be afflicted with diseases. As we previously mentioned, there are around 34 of them, and you won’t always have the means to resist them. Even when you do, there’s still a chance they’ll connect.
Worse yet, avoiding vampirism once you’ve been afflicted with its associated ailment is a feat which can only be achieved through highly limited disease-curing means. Having someCure Diseasepotions on hand is arguably mandatory in Oblivion Remastered.

Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to concoct aCure Diseasepotion. You’ll need these even if you aren’t into Alchemy, however, so grab a few from merchants if all else fails.
2Reflect Damage + Reflect Spell
Reflect Damage bounces melee damage back at your foes, which is every bit as grand as it sounds. It will only do so for a certain percentage of that damage, but all the same, it’s going to add up over time in a big way.
Reflect Spell works the same way, but for magic. Thus, combining both boons into a single potion can prepare you for hordes of diverse enemies.

WIthering Moon and Watcher’s Eye are both available only in the Shivering Isles, but this will hardly be a problem in Oblivion Remastered, seeing as that expansion is packed in by default. Youcancraft this potion by other means, but it will include deleterious effects if you do so.
1Fortify Health+ Restore Health
There are so many combinations for craftingFortify Health+ Restore Health, that you’ll be hard-pressed not to stumble upon this with even rudimentary Alchemy and similarly common ingredients. That’s partly what makes this our favourite potion in the game - its sheer abundance.
But the same can be said for plenty of less helpful brews.Fortify Health+ Restore Health just gets to the very heart of the matter: if you need help surviving the more dangerous parts of Cyrodiil and beyond (Oblivion Planes, we’re looking at you), there’s no better boon than a heal-over-time regenerative buff in conjunction with something that amps your health bar to greater heights.
