There are a total of 15 Master System games in Pirate Yakuza. You will need to hunt down some of these games, transforming Majima’s adventure from treasure hunting to retro game hunting. 15Penguin Land

Penguin Land is a puzzle platformer and a sequel to Doki Doki Penguin Land. In the game, you control a penguin on an alien planet, trying to collect eggs. You must guide your egg to safety across caverns. At the end of each cavern, a spaceship awaits the penguin.

The caverns feature puzzles and enemies, such as polar bears. What makes Penguin Land unique is its built-in editor, allowing you to create your own levels! you’re able to save and load these custom levels and select rounds individually.

14Flicky

Flicky isa platform gamethat distinguishes itself from others in the genre by requiring you to collect other characters to complete the level. You play as a blue bird who collects small birds and must protect them from cats and other enemies.

In Flicky, when you save the small birds, they follow you in a chain, and you must guide them to the exit. If enemies hit you, they will break the chain, and you’ll need to retrieve the small birds again. You can also jump across platforms and use some items as an offense.

13Galaxy Force

Galaxy Force is a rail shooter in which you control a combat spaceship. The game involves shooting down enemy spaceships and other obstacles, such as asteroids.

The spaceship is armed with a main weapon that fires lasers and missiles. The influence of other popular franchises, like Star Wars, is clear. What makes this game unique is that you may move in different directions, and the camera will follow you, rather than staying in a static position like in other spaceship games of the era.

12Global Defense

Global Defense is a scrolling shooter clearly inspired by the politics and military projects of the 1980s. You control a satellite orbiting Earth, tasked with destroying enemy missiles and other threats.

In Global Defense, there is a crosshair that you use to both shoot and move the satellite. It is one of the most difficult games in the collection because, to move, you must hold a button for the stick to work. There is also enemy fire that you cannot destroy; you can only evade it.

11Fantasy Zone

Fantasy Zone is a scrolling shooter. Like other scrolling shooters of the era, the player controls a spaceship. This one is called Opa-Opa. Opa-Opa is quite popular in Sega’s lore and is known by some as one of the company’s first mascots.

Compared to most other spaceship games, the levels in Fantasy Zone are very colorful and vivid. The spaceship has a main rapid-fire gun and can also drop bombs. In each level, you need to destroy enemy bases, and a boss will appear at the end. You will earn points in each level, which can be used in a store to upgrade your ship.

10Poseidon Wars 3-D

8Enduro Racer

Enduro Racer is a motorcycle game inspired by the sport of the same name, Enduro racing. You control a character on his dirt bike, avoiding obstacles to reach the finish line.

There are also a variety of enemies; for example, the red aliens are weaker than the blue ones, and there are stationary enemies that you must evade fire from. To complete the level, you must rescue other humans that are scattered around and save them from the aliens.

6Fantasy Zone 2: The Tears of Opa-Opa

Fantasy Zone 2: The Tears of Opa-Opa is a scrolling shooter and a sequel to Fantasy Zone. While similar in gameplay, this sequel adds several features to make it unique.

The levels in Fantasy Zone 2 are more dynamic than those of its predecessor. There are now warps that act as portals, transporting you to different locations. More stores are available from the start, offering a wider variety of items to buy. While the levels are side-scrolling and continue indefinitely, you will face the final bosses in just one direction.
