Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG’s Quarter Century Stampede is the last hurrah for the quarter century rarity. The 25th anniversary of Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn’t go off without a bang, though. This set collects some amazing cards that are hard to get a hold of while also dipping into the fan-favorite eras of the game for its nostalgia pool.

The nostalgia pool shows that there are many different ways to remember the game. Some cards are staples in the decks of the heroes and villains of the anime. Other cards made a significant impact on the metas of yesteryear. Regardless, these cards can definitely stir up a memory or two.

Maxx C Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Art.

10Maxx “C”

The Original Mulcharmy

Maxx “C” is one of the best cards in the nostalgia pool. The only thing holding it back is that it istoo powerful to remove from the banlist. This hand trap allows you to draw a card each time your opponent Special Summons a monster.

During its prime, this card essentially tells your opponent that they’re not allowed to play the game without giving you a massive advantage. They can either attempt to play through your barrage of draws or set something and back down.

Trap Dustshoot Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Art.

9Trap Dustshoot

An Efficient Hand Rip

The good thing about the nostalgia pool is that some of the cards can be good for alternative formats. Trap Dustshoot may be a limited card inEdison format, but its effect can give you an immediate advantage when you manage to set it off right.

If your opponent has four or more cards in their hand, Trap Dustshoot lets you look at it and shuffle a monster back into the deck. This is a hand rip that not only gives you intel on your opponent but also prevents them from getting that monster’s name in the graveyard.

Necrovalley Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Art.

8Necrovalley

Protecting The Graveyard

Necrovalley has seen its fair share of play over the years. It’s essentially a Field Spell that prevents tampering with the graveyard. This can upset a lot of strategies that revolve around using the graveyard as a resource.

While this card is active, cards can’t be banished from the graveyard. They also can’t be moved. So no shuffling back into the deck, adding them to your hand, or reviving them. It even hits those niche effects that XYZ Monsters sometimes have that attach cards from the graveyard as material.

Block Dragon Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Art.

7Block Dragon

Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Very Own Lego Monster

Block Dragon wreaked havoc on the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG while it was legal. You could banish other Earth monsters from your hand or graveyard to bring it out for free, then use it as material for something to get it into the grave. This would trigger its effect.

This then allowed the player to fetch three Rock monsters from the deck as long as their levels all equal eight. This lets you rummage through the deck too easily, to the point where it got itself banned.

Tour Guide From the Underworld Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Alternate Card Art.

6Tour Guide From The Underworld

Hop On The Nostalgia Bus

Tour Guide From the Underworld isa popular card from the 5Ds era. In Quarter Century Stampede, she comes with a fresh look that shows her guiding the tour and not just signaling her group to the tour bus.

This card is a fan-favorite since it can bring out a level three Fiend straight from the deck. While the monster cannot be used as Synchro material and has its effects negated, that’s still another body on the field to work with. It is also effective in bringing out a specific name that you need on the field.

Runick Fountain Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Art.

5Runick Fountain

Not This Card Again

Can you stop your opponent from activating Runick Fountain? If you can’t, you’re going to be seeing plenty of Quick-Play Spells turn into hand traps during your turn. Runick Fountain can be funny if you’re using it and annoying if you’re on the other end of the stick.

This is still one of the best cards in the nostalgia pool since it is essential for your Runick strategies. With every card stopping your opponent from doing something, milling cards from their deck, and allowing you to draw cards, Runick stun can make your opponent quit the game.

Jurrac Meteor Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG card art.

4Jurrac Meteor

Extinction Is Approaching

Jurrac Meteor is a unique Dinosaur card that luckily gets a well-deserved reprint in Quarter Century Stampede. Originally only available through the use of Duel Terminal machines, this card eventually got a reprint in hidden arsenal.

This card may be difficult to Summon normally since it also blows itself up when it hits the field, but its use as a board breaker is made easier through the Jurrac Volcano Field Spell, which turns Jurrac Meteor into a Nibiru specifically for Dinosaur decks to use.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Breakthrough Skill Card Art

3Breakthrough Skill

One Trap, Two Negates

Breakthrough Skill is essentially Infinite Impermanence before that card became a thing. It can negate a face-up monster’s effect for the rest of the turn. This can be done during your opponent’s turn by activating it from the field. You can also use this card’s effect again on your turn by banishing it from the graveyard.

While both effects can’t be used on the same turn, having a Trap you may use from the graveyard is great for breaking boards and stopping plays in the Edison format.

Dimensional Prison Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG card art.

2Dimensional Prison

Into The Hole You Go

If you ever need a monster gone, or you simply don’t want to see it touch the graveyard, Dimensional Prison can do the trick. This card is another neat entry from the nostalgia pool that can be used in Edison format.

Battle Traps can still kick off in the slower format. Seeing your opponent swing away with one of their best monsters just to see it get banished can turn the tables on them. It also does this before the attack goes through, saving your own monsters and protecting you from direct attacks.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Blackwing - Zephyros The Elite Card Art.

1Blackwing Zephyros The Elite

Recycle Cards Once Per Duel

Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite is one of the coolest Blackwings with a generic effect. As long as this card is in your graveyard, you may bounce a card back from your field to your hand to Special Summon it. You also need to pay 400 life points.

However, this bounce is incredible. Not only does it get a body on the board, but if you bounce back something that can be played again the very same turn, you can reuse the effect of whatever you just got back. This effect is so good, it can only be used once per duel.
