Summary
OK, stop us if you’ve heard this before, butSonyandNaughty Dogare re-releasingThe Last of Us. Afteralready re-releasing The Last of Us Part 2onPlayStation 5, as well asPart 1, a new compilationdubbed The Last of Us Complete has been released, with a physical Collector’s Edition launching in July.
The package bundles both Part 1 and Part 2 in one place, “making it easier than ever to experience this story.” Normally, there wouldn’t be too much to glean, but the phrasing of “Complete” has fans wondering if it means The Last of Us Part 3 is no longer happening.

Complete Is A Very Strong Word
Across several Reddit threads recapping the news, fans openly wondered the meaning behind calling the bundle the “Complete” collection.
“If they are calling this (the) complete edition, I’m definitely not holding my breath for Part 3 anymore,“one fan wrote. Not only is it being called the “Complete” collection, butNaughty Dog’s own website notes, “The Last of Us Complete makes it easier than ever to experience the full story on PS5.”
“This implies that the story is over and completed,“another fan chimed in. “I really hope this is not the case.” Another fantheorized the same, writing, “This might mean there probably won’t be a third one.”
Neil Druckmann Has Previously Cast Doubt On A Part 3
Should this mark the end of The Last of Us story, then it wouldn’t be all too surprising, especially considering Neil Druckmann’s own words as of late. In early March,Druckmann said not to “bet” on more entries. Specifically, Druckmann said, “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of The Last of Us. This could be it.”
Then, a few weeks later,Druckmann once again doubled down on his own words. In a separate interview he said, “For there to be another one, another thing, another project, so many stars have to align, I can’t guarantee it.”
Perhaps the “Complete” collection of The Last of Us is meant to give fans of the HBO series a centralized place to access the games. But given the fact that this wouldn’t be the first time that Naughty Dog has spoken openly about a potential ending, it could mean a lot more. “I’m still hoping for a Part 3, never say never,“one fan wrote.
