Ever since the first episode of the show, fans have been dreading the infamous gold club scene. The fact that the show is actually good, and Pedro Pascal makes a great Joel, just amplified that dread. It felt like we were going to get some more time before that scene, considering that the second season will not tell the full story ofThe Last of Us Part 2, but Abby has already hit a hole in one.

The Internet Reacts To Joel’s Death In The Last Of Us

In the final seconds of thefirst episode of season two, we saw that Abby and her group made it to Jackson County, Wyoming. As for what follows, she manages to corner Joel and brutally beat him to death with a golf club as an act of revenge. The scene is just as brutal as it was in the game, and all the actors did a phenomenal job.

I wasn’t prepared for Joel’s death, even though I knew what was going to go down; so I can’t imagine how those who didn’t know are taking it. As you can imagine, the internet is in absolute shock.

“Like tomorrow is going to be a literal day of mourning. Ima drag myself into work like “NO your email does NOT find me well,” said one comment on the HBO The Last of Us subreddit. “I didn’t play the game, and I was NOT emotionally prepared for that. Until the last second, I was trying to figure out how he’d get out of that. Damn, what a gut punch,” said another.

“It was a rough scene, and I’m a tough person who was ready to see blood and death,” said another viewer. I didn’t see it coming, I didn’t play the game or see the walk through. I knew it would be serious but damn.”
