Summary
HBO’s second season ofThe Last of Ushas seemingly removed one of Ellie and Dina’s most beloved moments fromPart 2, and fans aren’t happy about it.
Although HBO’s first season of The Last of Us did take some liberties when it came to adapting the first game (such as the removal of spores and the origin of the Cordyceps virus), it was mostly faithful when it came to the important parts. And, for the things that it did change, most agreed they were for the better and added more depth to the world.

Spoilers for the second episode of The Last of Us Season 2 to follow.
It seems that Season 2 of The Last of Us (which is based on an unknown amount of the second game) is following the same approachwhere it keeps the main beats of the story but changes some of the smaller segments. A big example of this appeared during the show’s second episode, although it’s already more controversial than the tweaks made in the first season.

Ellie And Dina Don’t Smoke Together In HBO’s The Last Of Us
Eugene’s Stash Is Nowhere To Be Seen
Yesterday’s episode of The Last of Us was a big one that adapted one of the most controversial moments in the whole series whereAbby and Joel finally face off and the latter gets killed. While everyone’s attention was mostly focused on seeing how the show would handle Joel’s death, fans of the game noticed that a key moment from that part of the game was absent.
The scene in question is whenDina and Ellie go on patrol together and end up at Eugene’s place after being caught in a snowstorm. What follows is the pair finding his stash and smoking some for themselves, leading to them finally kissing and getting together, solidifying their relationship as romantic for the first time.

It’s a beloved scene in a very dark game and one that fans were looking forward to seeing recreated. Strangely, though, the HBO show doesn’t seem to have bothered with it at all,as the sequence is completely missing from the second episode. This is mostly because Dina plays a bigger role in Joel’s death and is with him at the time, leaving no room for a chill sesh with Ellie.
Tommy also has his role in Joel’s death changed around, which is causing just as much controversy.

It’s possible that the scene has been moved up to Ellie and Dina’s travels later on in the season, but it’s still notably missing from where it’s supposed to be.Fans have been sharing their thoughts on its removal and noting that they feel “robbed”, which goes to show just how popular the scene is and how strange it’s not been adapted.
