There are minor spoilers for the season two debut of The Last Of Us and a puzzle from The Last Of Us Part 2 below.
Summary
The Last Of Usseason two is officially underway with episode one premiering on HBO last night. Being a pretty faithful adaptation of the games, there will naturally be quite a few easter eggs to keep an eye out for throughout this season, and one very fun one has already been spotted by fans who have playedThe Last Of Us Part 2.
Ellie and Dina head into a market during episode one, tracking the last of whatever killed a bear outside. While searching the building, Ellie finds a wall dedicated to the store’s employees of the month. The character focuses on July’s employee of the month which is a little white dog rather than an actual human employee like the other award winners.

A funny moment that will likely get a chuckle out of some of you, but those who have played through the same sequence in the game might recall not just the dog employee of the month, but the puzzle connected to it. Ellie falls through the floor shortly after this moment in the show, so she doesn’t have the chance to discover and try to solve the puzzle tied to the photo in the game.
The Last Of Us Part 2’s Best Boy Is An Easter Egg In Season Two

If you look in the right place in the market, you’ll find a note to Kristen from someone called Mina. Mina wants Kristen to know that there’s a safe in the building loaded with useful items. The code for that safe is the date on which the dog was awarded employee of the month. If you managed to figure that out in The Last Of Us Part 2, and solved what is known as the Good Boy Combo, you would have opened the safe to find some additional items to help you on your journey.
This won’t be the first and last Part 2 easter egg this season, of course. There are probably more to find in episode one that fans haven’t stumbled on yet that might become clearer as more people watch it. It’s already been revealed that Gustavo Santaolalla, who composed music for both The Last Of Us and its sequel, made a cameo in last night’s episode.

We’ll be getting a new episode of The Last Of Us every Sunday from now until May 25, the day on which the season two finale will air. A shorter run than season one at just seven episodes as opposed to nine. It’s already confirmed there’s going to be a season three, and we also know roughly how much of the second game season two will cover.
