If the scene in the show is the same as the one it appears to be adapting in the game, the gun in Ellie’s hands belongs to Joel, and she’s examining it when she visits his house for the first time after he’s killed. The sequence in the game is a heartwrenching one as players are tasked with going through the house, interacting with various items that belonged to Joel, reminding Ellie of meaningful moments they shared together.
