Hunter X Hunterstarted off with a happy adventure involving an innocent child exploring the world while trying to find his father. It soon took a much darker turn and started presenting more in-depth narratives. From these stories came some of the most iconic and memorable quotes.

Hunter x Hunter’s dialogue often delves into the morality of killers, the mindset of an avenger, and the unhinged selfishness of its protagonist. This depth reaches new heights in the Chimera Ant arc, where Hunter X Hunter explores the cycle of life and the ants' humanity.

Killua from Hunter X Hunter looking down at his victim with dead assassin eyes.

10“Who Wants To Have Their Life Planned Out For Them?”

Killua Zoldyck

This quote perfectly captures Killua’s early life during the Hunter Exam. His family kept trying to force the assassination business on him simply because he’s talented. Killua’s brother goes as far as to physically manipulate him.

Those words coming from Killua hit even harder after learning about his story and the things he had to go through. His family circumstances may be extreme and supernatural, but many people can still relate to Killua.

Gon from Hunter X Hunter looking hopeless with a dark aura around him.

9"I Don’t Care If This Is The End… So… I Will Use Everything."

Gon Freecss

Gon is devastated after learning about Kite’s death, prompting him to throw away his own future for the sake of revenge on Pitou. This is especially eerie to hear because of the chilling music and the way Gon says it.

Seeing a cheerful Gon in this state is sad, but we don’t even have time to think about that because of the consequences that follow Gon’s words. His transformationalso solidifies this quote as one of the most memorable ones in Hunter X Hunter.

Netero and Zeno from Hunter X Hunter riding a dragon made of aura.

8"The Countless Dragons That Rained Down Were Less Significant Threats Than The Humans In The Sky."

The Narrator

Very few anime have memorable quotes from the narrator, but Hunter X Hunter’s one comes in full force during the Chimera Ant arc. He has many memorable quotes, but this one in particular sticks with you forever.

The build-up to the palace invasion with the sudden entry of Zeno and Netero is hype enough, but the narrator makes it much better by saying Pitou’s thought process out loud. The whole scene gets elevated and gets burned in your memory with this single dialogue.

Pitou’s Face Is Bruised And Bleeding In Hunter X Hunter.

Neferpitou

This might be one of the most heartbreaking quotes in Hunter X Hunter. After being punched directly in the face by adult Gon’s Jajanken, Pitou feels a sense of relief because she knows Gon will not be able to use this power on Meruem.

Pitou’s loyalty to the king is so great that even while being pummelled to death, all she can feel is solace because she did her job and protected the king. It’s a great representation of how much she actually cared for Meruem.

Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter with glowing red eyes.

6"I Do Not Fear Death. I Fear Only That My Rage Will Fade Over Time."

Kurapika

Kurapika showcases the depths of his hatred forthe Phantom Troupethrough this quote. At first, many of us most likely thought Kurapika was being overdramatic. However, Hunter X Hunter soon demonstrated how true Kurapika’s words were.

This quote doesn’t immediately stick with you, but you get reminded of it after seeing how far Kurapika is willing to go for his revenge. His only purpose for living is revenge, so Kurapika might even lose his will to live if he fails to fulfill it.

Chrollo performing his symphony in Hunter x Hunter.

5"Uvo, Can You Hear Us? We’re Playing A Requiem For You."

Chrollo Lucilfer

This quote is followed by one of the best moments Hunter X Hunter has to offer. The whole Phantom Troupe gets together to go wild for Uvogin by attacking the auction building. During the massacre, the sound effects cut off, and the only thing you’re able to hear is the Requiem Chrollo plays for Uvogin.

Of course, the Requiem is epic, and it’s great to see the Phantom Troupe members in action. However, Chrollo’s care for a fallen comrade is what makes this quote so memorable. The art, soundtrack, and animation all build up to a single line said by Chrollo, ending the episode and burning the quote in everyone’s memories.

Isaac Netero unleashes his final attack in Hunter X Hunter.

4"You Know Nothing Of The Bottomless Malice Within The Human Heart."

Isaac Netero

This quote signifies what Togashi has been trying to show throughout theChimera Ant Arc. Netero demonstrates to Meruem how much he truly underestimated the human race. Despite Meruem’s incredible intellect, he was technically only a newborn who knew very little of the world.

The quote referenced how evil the nature of a nuclear weapon is. No matter how much Meruem evolved, he wouldn’t be able to catch up to humanity’s thousands of years of war and destructive capacity. Even after surviving the initial blast, the poison will end your life in an even more painful way.

Pitou from Hunter X Hunter smiling with pain on her face.

3"If You Want, You May Also Have My Right Arm… If That Isn’t Enough, You Can Take Both Legs."

Another quote from Pitou that is sure to stick in everyone’s memory. This was the first time we ever saw the invincible Pitou vulnerable. Seeing Pitou beg Gon and even go as far as to break her arm after being portrayed as a self-absorbed character was surprising, to say the least.

This quote showed that Pitou was no different from humans. She was fulfilling her duty and fighting for someone she cared about. This single moment instantly flipped the roles of Gon and Pitou.

Meruem from Hunter X Hunter laughing maniacally.

2"Do You Humans Ever Listen To The Cries Of Mercy Coming From The Pigs And Cows You Slaughter?"

Meruem

Meruem raises a great point right after being born and invading a palace. This is likely Togashi’s way of directly speaking to the audience who hated Meruem’s actions. He raises a complex issue that is guaranteed to stick in the minds of everyone who watched the scene.

As an intelligent creature who saw humans as nothing but food, Meruem’s direct comparison to cows or pigs was most likely Togashi’s way of foreshadowing the end of the arc, where humans and ants aren’t different.

Ging Freecss from Hunter X Hunter.

1"You Should Enjoy The Little Detours To The Fullest, Because That’s Where You’ll Find Things More Important Than What You Want."

Ging Freecss

Of course, the final quote of Hunter X Hunter’s anime is the best and most memorable one. Ging knew what he was talking about with this line, as it essentially embodies what Hunter X Hunter was all about. All of Gon’s time spent on finding Ging was much more valuable to him than actually getting to meet him.

This is true for many real scenarios as well. Many people tend to live in the future and forget to enjoy the little things that truly matter in life. Because Gon decided to pursue Ging, he was able to meet Killua and go on many fun little adventures.
