While there’s no doubt that the most popular subjects in thePokemon TCGare still Pokemon, Basic Water Energy cards also play an important role. If you compete in the card game, you’ll know that Basic Energy cards are a required part of any winning strategy, so these beautiful versions likely saw plenty of usage over the years.
A few of the best Basic Water Energy cards are found in popular sets, but some of the most valuable variations are promo cards or rare rewards for competing in PLAY! Pokemon events. Energy cards are usually plentiful, but the most expensive Water Energy cards can reach heights that would make Pokemon and trainer cards jealous.

Cards are ordered according to theirTCGplayermarket price. Cards without a market price are not included.
8Water Energy 107/114: PLAY! Pokemon (Promo) – $4.67
Start The Parade
The first Water Energy to step up hails from the PLAY! Pokemon events, which offer an organized event where you can compete against others and enjoy playing the Pokemon TCG. This exclusive promo version boasts a relatively modest market price, but keep in mind that condition is a massive factor in determining a specific card’s value.
Moderately Played(MP)copies of this card have sales of $2.75 and up, with lightly played(LP)setting the next benchmark at around three dollars. Lastly, at the top of the food chain, the cleanest, near mint(NM)copies of this sell for around the market price.

7Water Energy: 2011 Pokemon League (Promo) – $6.02
A Competitor’s Exclusive
From one rare promo Basic Water Energy to another, this 2011 Pokemon League promo might not be able to hold a candle to some of theother expensive promo cards you’ll find in the Pokemon TCG,but it still makes a notable impression considering it’s an Energy card.
Unfortunately, with impressive rarity comes a lack of sales data, with only a few on record at TCGplayer. An MP sale set the tone at $3.50 while NM cards can fetch the market price for this 2011 promo.

6Water Energy: 2010 PLAY! Pokemon (Promo) – $6.10
Familiar But Different
We return to the world of PLAY! Pokemon, with another exclusive Water Energy card claiming its place among the most valuable. This card is a year older than the previous iteration, making it slightly harder to find in perfect condition, given the additional age. However, unless you have a specific attachment to the year, it’s functionally identical to the other version.
Luckily, despite its rarity, there are plenty of these available for purchase, with MP sales sitting in the $3.50 to $4.99 range, while NM copies of this card can eclipse the six-dollar plateau in some cases.

5Basic Water Energy: Paldea Evolved (Hyper Rare) – $6.94
New School Cool
The most valuable Basic Water Energy cards also boast some newcomers to the game, with this gorgeous Hyper Rare card from Paldea Evolved making a strong impression with its bold coloring. The gold border, combined with bright blue and white sparkles, works incredibly well to set this card apart.
While this card won’t claim a spot as one of themost valuable Paldea Evolved cardsanytime soon, it still makes waves by blowing some of its fellow Energy cards out of the water.

4Water Energy: 2009 Unnumbered POP Promo (Promo) – $11.89
Subtle Color
The competition is heating up now, with this 2009 POP Promo almost doubling the price of the Paldea Evolved Hyper Rare, setting an impressive standard for the rest of the most valuable Basic Water Energy cards to follow.
Unfortunately, when you’re looking for cards from this era, it becomes increasingly difficult to find them in cleaner condition, the higher your standards are. While most NM copies of this card will command around the market price, you may see significant discounts of almost 50 percent if you’re willing to settle for an MP card.

3Water Energy: Crimson Invasion (Secret Rare) – $17.16
Crimson And Blue
Crimson Invasion flies under the radar in any conversation aboutthe most valuable Sun & Moon era cards, but that’s all about to change thanks to this Secret Rare Water Energy. While you won’t find many expensive Crimson Invasion cards on many value-based lists, this Water Energy earns a spot in the top three.
While this card’s price history has been tumultuous to say the least, there seems to be significant momentum pushing it back towards the $20 plateau that it fell from. It’s difficult to say where this card’s rise may stop, but look for the $20 mark to be a massive benchmark to hit.

2Water Energy: WoTC 2002 League Promo (Promo) – $19.57
A New Current
We go back to 2002 for this rare WoTC-era (Wizards of the Coast) promo card, which features arguably the best background thanks to the beautiful blotched cosmos holo pattern.
Unfortunately, this card shares a similarly checkered past to the Crimson Invasion Secret Rare, but also has a similarly positive trend to point towards for positivity. While this card isn’t back to its high of around $23, there’s plenty of reason to believe that its upward momentum may soon carry it back to that level.

1Water Energy 90/95: PLAY! Pokemon (Promo) – $52.28
A Cheeky Lugia Appearance
The most valuable entry commands a massive lead over its competition, more than doubling its next closest competitor’s value. This Play! Pokemon promo might seem similar to the other variations on this list, but in truth, it’s way better thanks to the gorgeous Lugia silhouette in the background.
This style of Energy promo is incredibly popular, and there were different Pokemon silhouettes chosen for each energy, with Ampharos covering Lightning, Ho-Oh for Fire, and Umbreon representing the Darkness Energy. No matter how the market changes, it’s likely that this card will remain the most valuable Water Energy for a long time.
