Summary

When you think ofNBAcards, you probably think of Michael Jordan first. Due to the dominance of the ’90s Bulls, many of those iconic players' basketball cards have consistently increased in value, and many of them would just be Michael Jordan alone.

However, there are other members of the Bulls that have sought-after cards, even those not related to the three-peat era. Despite the Bulls' lackluster history, Chicago is still one of the fiercest basketball cities in the world, and players who came after the Jordan Bulls also have valuable cards.

Although he had been Defensive Player of the Year, Dennis Rodman didn’t become a household name until he joined the Bulls in 1996. Rodman’s antics such as his party life, controversial celebrity relationships, and trademark colorful hair made him one of the most popular sports figures of his time. Other than his off-court quirks, he was a unique player in his ability to average 16 rebounds per game.

Derrick Rose Gold #25 from 2021 Panini Contender Optic All-Star Aspirations.

Fleer’s Flair Showcase is a premium line, with less than 200 copies of this card printed. The value of the Dennis Rodman Flair Showcase is the combination of the commercial power of the 90s Bulls, Rodman’s one-of-a-kind persona, and natural scarcity from the Row cards.

Michael Jordan 3D Wrapper Redemption #29 from 1991 Fleer.

Thanks to hitting big shots in the playoffs, Steve Kerr became one of the most beloved bench players in the NBA. Being part of the legendary 96-98 Chicago Bulls teams did a lot to make Steve Kerr a well-known name despite being an average player at best.

What has bolstered the value of Steve Kerr’s cards is his career as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors during their championship years. Steve Kerr has established himself as one of the best coaches of his era, and as a result, his cards from his most famous time as a player have become valuable.

One of the coolest sets to come from the ’90s was the Ultra Scoring Kings cards. Many of the best scorers from the 90s had a holographic version of their card, supplemented by a lightning background. The surreal stylistic choice gives these cards strong ’90s vibes.

Michael Jordan Refractor #139 from 1996 Topps Chrome

Almost every kid wanted this card due to how awesome it looked. Jordan’s jumper matches perfectly with the lightning piercing the background. This is not only a staple for Bulls fans, but a must for any Jordan collector.

Michael Jordan #57 from Fleet 1986

The Chicago Bulls have only had two MVPs in their history, Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose was going to be the next big star pushed by the NBA, and for good reason. Derrick Rose had a 25-point season in only his third year in the NBA.

Sadly, Derrick Rose’s time as a prime-time player was cut short due to a series of injuries. The love for Derrick Rose, a native of Chicago, never faded though. Derrick Rose is still a popular player despite spending the majority of his career as a bench player.

Most valuable Bulls cards you got from packs, but the Michael Jordan 3-D Wrapper redemption was a promo card that was mailed to you. Since these cards were not mass produced for a set, there were hardly any of them. A lot of people failed to redeem them, not knowing they’d spike in value years later.

The 3D layering of these cards made them prone to damage, so this is a card that scales incredibly well if it receives a good PSA grade.

This depicted Michael Jordan during his final year before he would retire for baseball. In 1993, Jordan had threepeated by taking out Charles Barkley’s Phoenix Suns. This coincides with the launch of Topps Finest lineup. The Finest cards were a high-end set for NBA, NFL, andMLB cards.

This is the set that made the term ‘refractor’ a popular term, referring to cards that were metallic and holographic in their look. Eventually, Topps Chrome became a more affordable alternative to getting refractor cards, but the Finest high-end status and low print combined with great aesthetics solidified this Jordan card’s value.

While not a superstar, Joakim Noah was the heart and soul of the Bulls for several years. For younger fans who aren’t from Chicago, it’s easy to overlook how good Noah was due to his points per game. Noah was one of the most prominent players in the NBA due to his controversial interviews and stellar defense, which earned him a Defensive Player of the Year title.

Noah was the best player on the Bulls for several years. The Gold Refractors are the rarest cards in Finest sets, usually below 50 copies, which gives this rookie card a big boost.

1996 was the year Jordan came back and won the NBA championship after a hiatus in baseball. It’s also considered to be the best draft class in NBA history, withrookie Kobe Bryant cards being sought-after. However, what makes this Michael Jordan card unique is that it’s from the first set in Topps Chrome line, which had a metallic and shiny layering around their cards.

Topps Chrome produced a lot more cards than their initial launch year, so the scarcity of cards from this set plays a big factor in why this Michael Jordan card is so valuable.

When most people who have basketball cards think of a rookie Michael Jordan card, it’s usually the 1986 Fleer one. The imagery of Jordan rising above everyone going for a slam dunk just made it objectively a good-looking card.

Before the pandemic, it was still possible to find a well-graded 1986 Fleer for a few hundred dollars. Now, you’re likely looking to drop a couple of grand to obtain it. Because this was such a popular card and set when it came out, there are still a good amount of them floating around, making it one of the more obtainable rare Michael Jordan cards. A PSA 10 however is among the mostvaluable basketball cards available.

The definitive Michael Jordan rookie card. Compared to other Michael Jordan rookie cards, this one is significantly rarer. Star never reprinted this set, despite the overwhelming popularity of basketball emerging around this time.

This card is tens of times rarer than the Fleer version. Only highly specialized collector items, autographed cards, misprints, and the like are more valuable than this card. Despite being a mass-produced card, there have only been a little over 1,000 graded Star Jordan 101 cards at PSA 8 or higher.
