The Classic Gets A Rarity Bump

This card features the original art from Kuriboh’s first release. It can be discarded from your hand to protect your life points during a battle with one of your opponent’s monsters. This effect is one of the firsthand traps in the game. In the slower meta of Duel Monsters, it could come in clutch to buy you another turn.

WInged Kuriboh Ascends
Cybernetic Revolution isone of the coolest sets of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX era. Not only did it introduce Cyber Dragons, but it also gave Winged Kuriboh a whole new game plan. This is to ascend your Winged Kuriboh into Winged Kuriboh LV10 using Transcendent Wings.
Despite only being an ultra rare printing, this card is valuable due to how old the set is and how iconic the monster is. 7Transcendent Wings
When Regular Packs Contained Ultimate Rare Printings
A unique trait thatmany of the older Yu-Gi-Oh! setshave is that they often contain ultimate rare cards as the highest rarity. This means you didn’t have to compete to get your hands on some of the more coveted cards. One of these cards is Transcendent Wings.

The Anime Card Art

Foiling Matters
Depending on which set you pull cards from, there are small details that can either make or break the value. Winged Kuriboh LV10 may have originally been printed as an ultra rare, but the foiling found in Dark Revelation Volume 4 gives it a cleaner look.
This can sometimes happen with cards in different sets. Some might have thinner or thicker text. Other cards have foiling with slightly different reflective properties. Ultimately, the cleaner card is going to be the more valuable version.

An Alternate Art For The Original
While some might say prismatic secret rares don’t look as good as classic secret rares, this Kuriboh has multiple qualities that help it stand out. This includes an alternate card art as well as a smaller monster body which allows the prismatic effect to cover more of the art box.
It also helps that this card was originally packaged with copies of Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Yugi the Destiny video game. So receiving this card already has an elevated entry price. With fewer copies in circulation, it manages to stay on top.

3Winged Kuriboh LV6
Kuriboh Cosplay

2Winged Kuriboh
The Original Max Rarity
Winged Kuriboh was originally released in The Lost Millennium at the start of the GX era. It is also lucky enough to be released at the same time when ultimate rare cards were included in base sets. If you were lucky enough, you could pull an ultimate rare Winged Kuriboh.
