InMagic: The Gathering, Terefi’s Protection is an incredibly powerful card which essentially acts as a last resort to buy you an extra turn in the end game. Once played, your lifetotal cannot change until your next turn. It also protects you from everything, including infect or toxic counters.
While damage can still accrue if your opponent has a card with a ‘damage can’t be prevented’ effect, that damage still can’t be dealt until the Terefi’s Protection has been lifted on your next turn, and your lifetotal can be adjusted again. This powerful card has some powerful artwork to match.

In this design by Kieran Yanner he draws inspiration from the cause supported by the Extra Life 2020 set it’s from. Extra Life is a charity which raises money for children’s hospitals through tabletop events. The protection of children is a clear focus here in this image of a child under the protection of an adult.
The child is shown raised up and surrounded by swirls, symbolizing the protection from the adult, presumably a parental figure, who has arms outstretched to surround the child.

In this design for the Double Masters 2022 set by Chase Stone, the protection is in the form of safety and shelter from a storm. A figure stands atop a field holding out a staff. In front of him is a looming threat which is quite abstract in nature but feels like a rising storm.
An almost invisible net dominates this card when you look carefully and is drawing in all the people and animals working towards the man. The dark yet captivating artwork has a lot of fine details and offers a very different take on protection to many of the other options.

This Chase Stone Illustration is also from the Double Masters 2022 set and features an almost reversed version of the storm artwork also included in the set. In this version, the sky is clear but the protection over everything coming towards the figure with a staff is still in place.
Here you can see the outlines of the stunning building in the background better, with the birds flying majestically over the roof. The vibrancy makes the art stand out in a different way.

Judge Gift Cards 2018 (J18) #5
At first glance, this Chase Stone artwork appears identical to the Double Masters 2022 artwork. However, you can differentiate this unique card by the swoosh icon behind the card text. There’s also an included quote from Teferi which isn’t included on the standard version of the card.
This iteration is a Judge Gift Card from 2018. These were given out to judges in MTG tournaments and, as such, are incredibly rare. The tradition of distributing Judges Cards no longer exists.
1Terefi’s Protection By So-Taro (Japanese) - $56.85
Strixhaven Mystical Archive (STA) #74
So-Taro’s warrior design comes from the Strixhaven Mystical Archive set, and you’ll only find it in Japanese. The stunning borderless design uses the same idea of a protective warrior stance which we see in Greg Staples artwork. However, the art style is very different.
This card feels more like a graphic novel or full colour manga with its clean lines and incredible detail. Even the background has an immense amount of shading and texture really bringing this warrior to life.
