Summary

As it currently stands, not a whole lot is known aboutEA’s upcoming return to itsBattlefieldfirst-person shooter franchise. We do know the game will have a campaign, andit’s being developed by Criterion, effectively putting the Need for Speed franchise on ice.

We also know the game will release before April 2026, and thatplayers are actively engaging with the game via playtests, all in an effortto avoid another disastrous launch. Beyond that, though, details are rather mum at the moment.

That said, it appears that when Battlefield does return, it’ll be bringing back a once-forgotten element — Battlefield Premium, or at least some version of it.

Battlefield Premium Is A Key Part Of The Franchise

As spotted by Insider Gaming, andas originally reported by Mp1st, it appears that EA is actively working on reviving Battlefield Premium. That information comes from an apparent datamine, suggesting that the new subscription will be called Battlefield Pro.

Among the benefits of the subscription include instant unlocks, the ability to host a persistent server and tier skips.According to the report, these will be the benefits:

Perhaps most noteworthy is the fact that it’ll include the ability to host a private server, something that hardcore fans will no doubt be interested in. As to what the “Pro Radio Station” is remains to be seen. The rest of the reported benefits are largely similar to other existing subscriptions.

Mp1st notes that it’ll be similar to Fortnite Crew or Rainbow Six Siege’s membership, which should give fans a better idea of what to expect when it comes to cost.Fortnite’s version is a reocurring $11.99 a month subscription, whileRainbow Six offers a one-month sub for $9.99 or a 12-month sub for $79.99.

Historically speaking, Battlefield Premium was a one-time charge, making the prospect of a monthly or yearly fee a bit harder to swallow for longtime fans. Granted, if it’s the only way to have private servers, fans will have to get used to it. Only time will tell whether this comes to pass, but given the landscape of other games in its genre, it’s hard to imagine this being a fake.
