Fire Force features a large cast of characters, each explosive in their way—whether through personality, power, or their role in the story. The protagonist, Shinra, and those closest to him often take center stage in the action, but today, we’re shifting the spotlight to the incredible women of this fireyanime.

Not every female character has received the same amount of time, but that changes today. It’s only fair to show them some love as we celebrate the best female characters from the series, right?

Inca Kasugatani stares with pink glowing eyes and a burning city in the background in Fire Force.

10Inca Kasugatani

Interesting Power, But Selfish Nature

How would you feel if Batman saved people onlyafterhe shook them down for all they were worth? You’d think he was pretty selfish, naturally. Inca is indeed that selfish, but cranks it up to the next level. You see, she has no regard for any life but her own and only wants to fill her pockets.

How does she do this? Inca can smell out combustion fires, butbeforethey happen, meaning she can avoid them, or better yet, she can ‘save’ folks who are caught in the danger zone before the flames have a chance to take shape. She doesn’t have much in the way of offensive capabilities, but she’s good at running away, so…that’s good? It’s too bad she doesn’t use her powers for good.

Iris closes her eyes and holds here hands together in prayer in Fire Force

9Sister Iris

Powered By Prayer

In Fire Force, faith is more than just a personal journey, it’s a tangible force that lends peace to those who truly believe, both human and infernal alike. Sister Iris, though lacking in offensive capabilities, provides solace to souls suffering from spontaneous combustion and gives them solace just before their end.

That’s not all she does, though. Iris can also provide first aid to her allies with her training and medical knowledge, and, once she gains her Third Generation abilities, Iris gains the ability to grant complete immunity to flames for herself and all of her allies through the power of prayer. Proving her faith continues to be her greatest asset.

Mari Kusakabe hugs a young Shinra and Shot Kusakabe in Fire Force

8Mari Kusakabe

A Miraculous Tragedy

If it wasn’t for Mari, Sho, and Shinra’s story, and much of the Fire Force endgame, wouldn’t happen. Shinra wouldn’t become the protagonist, and the rest of them would be trapped in the perpetual state of burning and experimentation with infernals. Still, as with anime, the price of a protagonist comes at a cost.

After the biblically miraculous births of her two sons, she lost her life soon after but not before becoming an infernal herself. It’s a fate that plenty of anime mothers meet, but not one where she becomes the monster herself, nor do their actions set off the plot like hers does in their respective shows.

Lisa Isaribi surrounds herself with her fire tentacles in Fire Force.

7Lisa Isaribi

Her Energy Is Magnetic

Fear is a powerful force, and can drive anyone to do things they probably wouldn’t have chosen to do themselves if they were given a different path. Lisa was robbed of that choice when she was taken under the wing of Dr. Giovanni, the captain of Special Fire Force Company 3, who turned out to be a secret agent of the White-Clad cult.

Her tentacle ignition flames are a spectacle to behold. They can surround her and give her the appearance of a giant flame octopus, which is already intimidating, but her tentacles are also magnetic, so she can pick up any large barrel of gasoline and haul it at you and explode it on impact. It’s just a shame that once she’s recruited onto the protagonist team, she’s benched.

A close up of Hinata And Hikage’s faces in Fire Force

6Hinata And Hikage

Two Speed Fighters For The Price Of One

Whether for fighting or fun, you’ll never see one without the other. The twins were taken in under the tutelage of Benimaru and Konro, which explains both their formidable Ignition ability, which covers their bodies and transforms them into literal speed demons who are almost unparalleled.

Though they look similar, they don’t have the same personality. Hikage is quiet, and Hinata often acts as the spokesperson for the two of them, and more often than not, with the foulest offenses coming out of her mouth, no doubt inspired by Benimaru. Still, they are two speed demons you’d want to have on your side.

Tamaki Kotatsu holds her Nekomata fireball in her hands, with cat eyes on her head and pink flames surround her in Fire Force.

5Tamaki Kotatsu

Cat-like Reflexes, Unlucky Fanservice

Tamaki, for all her abilities, you would think that she’d be able to avoid being caught with, as she puts it, her ‘lucky lecher lure’ activated. Yet, Tamaki is often the unfortunate victim of the fan service quota this series has early on, which has divided the fans’ opinions of her and her appearances as the series continues. It lessens as the series goes on, but for some, the damage is done.

Which is a real shame, because they miss out on her amazing ignition abilities! She can use her fire to transform herself with catlike features, giving herself a boost in speed and agility, not to mention she can also use her dual tails to ensnare anyone who dares to get too close. She may not be the strongest, but she has shown that she is quite capable of adapting to battles on the fly. Underestimate her if you want, you might catch the claws before you know it.

Princess Hibana stares down at the camera with a large fire burn behind her in Fire Force.

4Princess Hibana

The Princess Knows How To Command A Whole Room

There are plenty of things you may say about Mistress Hibana: she’s commandeering and manipulative, but that’s all surface-level stuff. Closer inspection shows that deep down underneath that sadistic bravado lies a loving heart that understand that sometimes, you gotta dirty your hands to get the results you desire.

Her abilities are as captivating as she is! Hibana can make several enemies dizzy in an instant, stopping their attacks, summoning several razor-sharp flowers at once, and even a giant flaming sakura tree! She may not be physically strong, but her pyrokinetics are beautifully dangerous.

Arrow aims her flame arrow to the right of the screen in Fire Force.

3Arrow

A Loyal Arrow That Aims True

The fate of the world, for everyone else, is on the line. For Arrow, the transformation is already done; it’s everyone else that has to catch up. Her care for the feud between White-Clad and the Special Fire Force only goes as far as Commander Sho’s concern. Her loyalty, and her aim, belong to him alone.

Despite her specialty being stealth, her shots have been known to have the power of a tankand can blow bodies apart cleanly with nothing left behind. If that weren’t enough, she could change the trajectory of the arrow if needed, making her quite the accurate assassin.

Maki Oze points her fingers forward toward the flames in Fire Force.

2Maki Oze

Brings Hands To A Fire Fight And WIns

First impressions are lasting, and Maki certainly makes a lasting one by beating up the protagonist with ease. Her combat skills are impressive to watch and when she adds her Iron Owls into the mix, that’s where the real fun begins. She maneuvers them as though they were her second set of hands organically. It’s something to behold.

Her combat prowess doesn’t stop there though! She can absorb the flames of others and return them to them tenfold while they’re left vulnerable. She is a well-rounded fighter and when she’s mad, her power knows no bounds.

A close up of Haumea sticking her tongue out and smiling in Fire Force.

1Haumea

Chaos, Electrified

Haumea is a complex agent of chaos.Though she generally appears with a smile on her face, she will destroy anything in her path that gets in the way of the White Clad’s goals. She’s cunning and confident but will throw a tantrum or two if something doesn’t go her way.

Her electric capabilities go beyond rendering enemies paralyzed. She can use the electrical signals within the heads of her allies to communicate and even read their minds. Haumea can mind control and even move around like Spider-Man using static electricity. This, on top of her offensive capabilities and her unpredictable intelligence, makes her a formidable and fun villain.
