Summary

When deciding on a character for your next adventure inDungeons & Dragons, many are drawn in by the mystery and awe that are spellcasters. Able to wield arcane powers, they can warp the world around them in dramatic ways, especially at high levels.

One such spellcasting class is the sorcerer, born with an innate connection to magic. They are some of the most powerful spellcasting classes out there. But, they can be hard to build with so many choices, especially at a high level where things like epic boons come into play. Thankfully, when it comes to the sorcerer class, not all epic boons are made equal.

This list mostly uses epic boons from the 2024 version of 5e, but there are some from older editions of D&D as well. Make sure to talk to your DM about which epic boons are available to your sorcerer.

10Boon Of Dimensional Travel

Pocket Dimensions

Spellcasters often find themselves with a target on their heads. Ranged enemies and other spellcasters especially will seek to target the sorcerers, wizards, and similar classes after they’ve shown their might by disrupting the flow of combat.

The Boon of Dimensional Travel makes getting trapped on the battle map much harder by allowing your character to teleport anywhere in an empty space up to 30 feet directly after taking theAttack or Magic action. This means you can easily cast a spell, teleport, and then use your Bonus Action and movement for a great one-two punch without getting bogged down by the attention you’ll draw from the enemy.

Most versions of epic boons also come with an ASI, like most feats do.

9Boon Of Energy Resistance

The Resilient Type

There areplenty of damage typesthe world of D&D can throw at you. Fire, cold, psychic, acid, radiant, necrotic, thunder, lightning, poison, and force; they can all be beset upon your character by various effects, spells, and other dangers you’ll see throughout the world.

The Boon of Energy Resistance seeks to lower the number of ways you may receive damage by allowing you to pick two of these damage types per rest to gain resistance to. In addition, when you get damaged by one of your chosen types, you can reflect some of it onto an enemy within 60 feet of you, forcing them to make a Constitution saving throw to avoid it.

8Boon Of Spell Recall

More And More Magic

Spells are the main way the sorcerer interacts with the fantasy world of D&D around them. While they come with plenty of spells built-in, especially at high levels, access to more spell slots never hurts.

The Boon of Spell Recall is a bit of a gamble, but it can pay off greatly. With it, any time you cast a spell of first to fourth level, you’ll roll a d4. If the level of the spell and the number rolled match, then you don’t use a spell slot. This is a 25 percent chance of a free low-level spell, which makes it great for utility spells, or even healing spells, without worrying as much about the economy of your spell slots.

7Boon Of The Fire Soul

Too Hot To Handle

You can certainly get into some heated situations in a game of D&D. Whether you’re facing off with a fiend or you’ve wandered into the lair of a red dragon, fire damage can be a deadly encounter.

Thankfully, the Boon of the Fire Soul will help you breathe easy the next timesomeone casts Fireballtoo close for comfort. This boon gives your character immunity from all fire damage, and it doesn’t even require an action economy usage or charges, it’s simply an innate ability they have now. Plus, you can cast Burning Hands without using a spell slot, which is a solid melee fire damage spell.

6Boon Of The Stormborn

Lightning In Your Veins

Some DMs are prone to using creatures or damage types more often. If you find yourself being electrocuted or knocked down by percussive thunder, then the Boon of the Stormborn is a solid choice.

The Boon of the Stormborn works in a similar way to the Boon of the Fire Soul: it gives your character continued immunity to both lightning and thunder damage, which is a great double-protection boon if you find yourself facing off against blue dragons or cloud giants often. It also gives you the ability to cast Thunder Wave at will without using a slot or components for an added benefit.

5Boon Of Truesight

See No Evil

As you gain more levels, your enemies will think of more ways to throw wrenches into your group’s plans. This doesn’t always come in the way of more health and bigger AC; Sometimes they get crafty.

When it comes to enemies hiding, the Boon of Truesight nearly negates their effect entirely. It works the same way the Truesight spell works, allowing you to see through all types of darkness, plus the illusory and shapeshifting abilities that some creatures have. This means you’re able to be the designated scout for your party, and with your spells you can disrupt them further once you spot them.

4Boon Of Skill

Arcane Handiwork

It’s common to see sorcerers take up the jack of all trades mentality in their adventuring party due to their innate magical abilities, and full range of spells that can be a great help in various situations.

If that’s your goal as a high-level sorcerer, then the Boon of Skill is the perfect choice. With this boon, you instantly gain Proficiency in all skills, and an extra Expertise in one as well. This means your party will always have a member with some bonus to a skill check, and you may often be the one assisting in skill checks too for an extra chance at success.

3Boon Of Fortitude

Enspelled Constitution

As a whole, spellcasters aren’t usually gifted with an abundance of health. Sorcerers are no exception to that rule, having on average a far lower Constituion on average than most barbarians or clerics.

This means the Boon of Fortitude is a great choice if you’re worried about staying alive in combat for a longer period of time. With it, you are instantly granted an extra 40 points to your HP maximum, which even at higher levels should be a fair amount. In addition, whenever you are healed, up to once per turn, you gain extra health equal to the modifier of the ASI you boosted with this boon.

2Boon Of Fate

Tipping The Scales

While plenty of players focus on damage spells, the sorcerer class has access to plenty of utility and buffing spells as well. This means they can be a solid support class given the right choices.

If you’re looking for your sorcerer to be more helpful to the party dynamic, try the Boon of Fate. It allows you to roll a d10 when you see a creature within 60 feet make an attack roll or spell check and either add or subtract the result of the roll from their total. This means you can easilybuff or debuffany creature in the battle around you.

1Boon Of Recovery

No Necromancy Required

Sooner or later, whether by pushing your luck or a bad roll, your character’s health will dwindle far below the comfortable threshold. It’s for moments like these that the Boon of Recovery can be a great help.

With this boon, once per rest, when your HP reaches zero, you are instead stabilized at one HP and then are raised back up to half your HP maximum. This means you practically have a second life once per long or short rest, which is a great help with the damage dealing enemies of higher levels. You also get a pool of ten d10s that you’re able to use for healing per rest as well, which can save you from using valuable spell slots on healing spells.
