Summary
After what feels like years' worth of silence,Ubisoftopened the floodgates on Friday by teasingits previously announced remakeofSplinter Cellin the weirdest way possible …a screenshot of what we hope is protagonist Sam Fisher.
The cryptic tease comes exactly one week before Summer Game Fest 2025, which would be as ripe a place as any for a full re-reveal and maybe even a release date. Now, in the wake of the tease, a reliable insider has provided an update that should only add fuel to the hype train.
Splinter Cell Remake Would Make 2025 A Gaming Year For The Ages
In a post on social media, insider Tom Henderson revealed that the in-development remake “looks genuinely impressive” from what he’s seen. He also noted that the screenshot shared on Friday by Ubisoft isnotfrom the remake, which should ease fans' worries.
Henderson, of course, is extremely reliable, especially when it comes to Ubisoft projects. Back in 2021,Henderson was among the first to report on Splinter Cell’s whereabouts.
Most recently, in October,Insider Gaming reported that the remake project wasn’t dead and was being made in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine, which had been used in Star Wars Outlaws. At that time, it was reported that the game could release in 2026, though there was no guarantee.
Considering just how long it’s been since the game’s initial reveal, it certainly is due for a proper update. In the interim,a superfan managed to enhance the original game while also restoring some cut content.
