Rite of the Nine has added three difficulty tiers to some ofDestiny 2older dungeons, ranging from beginner friendly to Contest Raid difficulty. Ultimatum clearly sits in the latter category, setting your Guardian’s Power to -20 while adding a laundry list of modifiers to the activity.
Beating a dungeon on Ultimatum difficulty isn’t easy, let alone with a Gold score. But as with most challenges in Destiny 2, most of the difficulty can be circumvented with the right build and weapons. Today, we’ll be looking at the best weapons you can bring into Ultimatum and recommend some basic Aspect and Exotic combinations you can bring to make the game easier.

Best Weapons For Ultimatum
Ultimatum features a -20 Power delta and the Brawn modifier, substantially increasing the HP of all dungeon enemies. Bosses are going to require optimal DPS loadouts to take down in this environment, especially since you only have three DPS phases in boss encounters. If you can’t defeat the boss by the third phase, your squad will wipe.
ForRite of the Nine, you’ll want to bring aRocket Launcher, Linear Fusion Rifle, and a good add clear weapon. Most players are best off usingThe Queenbreaker. It has great ammo efficiency, deals absurd DPS while on its three-burst mode, and ramps up Particle Reconstruction incredibly fast for an LFR. If you want a Legendary LFR, consider using Doomed Petitioner or Scintillation.

Nearly every Destiny creator has recommendedHezen Vengeancefor rocket DPS this season, and for good reason. This weapon’s origin trait effectively gives it Bipod for free without any downsides, which you can pair with a damage perk like Bait and Switch for some absurd DPS potential. If you don’t own Hezen Vengeance, you can runGjallarhornor farm for this event’s reprised Cold Comfort.
As for killing adds, you can’t go wrong withRocket Sidearms. If you own The Final Shape,The Callis a fantastic weapon you’ll receive near the start of the campaign. Some other great options include Tinasha’s Mastery, Indebted Kindness, and Buried Bloodline—provided you don’t mind giving up your Exotic slot.

For Primary ammo, this season’s Barrow-Dyad can deal some monstrous damage if you spec for Taken Resolution and One for All. Other good options includeTrinity Ghoul,Sunshot,Vex Mythoclast, and any fast-firing Kinetic weapon with Kinetic Tremors.
Ramps up Particle Reconstruction and deals great damage.

Choir of One
Auto Rifle
Arguably the strongest workhorse weapon in the game. ADS to kill adds, hipfire to kill majors.
Rocket Sidearms
Sidearm
Great mix of damage and ammo efficiency. All of them are good.
The Queenbreaker
Linear Fusion Rifle
Best general Heavy weapon in the game. Pair with Particle Reconstruction from the artifact.
Hezen Vengeance
Rocket Launcher
Strongest Rocket Launcher in the game. Ideally, use Envious Arsenal + Bait and Switch.
Best Builds For Ultimatum
Ultimatum rewards survivability above all else. The more you die in Ultimatum difficulty, the fewer perks your Adept weapons will drop with. You’ll want to beat these encounters flawlessly when possible. Thankfully, there are quite a few strong builds you’re able to pick on each class.
Hunter
Out of the three classes, Hunters have it the hardest for general survivability. A lack of healing sources will require you to play a build with high damage resistance, run Golden Gun on Prismatic, or use weapon Exotics likeBuried Bloodlineto stay alive. Once you have your survivability figured out, you have quite a few options for besting Ultimatum dungeons.
If your team is struggling to kill adds, we recommend running aWhirling Maelstrom Threadrunner. This allows you to detonate Tangles to create Strand dust devils that tear through targets with Unravel projectiles. It deals surprisingly high damage in -20 content, gives you an easy grapple point to grapple melee targets, and pairs nicely with Cyrtarachne’s Facade for a constant 45 percent DR buff. The build is also fairly easy to play.

If you prefer Prismatic, runAscension with Relativism (HOIL + Cyrtarachne). If you use Gambler’s Dodge and Threaded Spike, you’re able to clear waves of adds by yourself just by juggling your class and melee abilities.
If your team needs more boss DPS,Prismatic Hunter withGolden Gun - MarksmanandCelestial Nighthawkis ideal. You can run Snare Bomb to debuff the boss and get easy access to Radiant before casting your Super. Hit the boss' weakpoint, then swap to your Heavy weapon to deal some damage. Be sure torun two or three surge mods on your bootsto maximize your damage.
Titan
There’s no debate here: if someone in your fireteam is playing a Titan, you should be usingStorm’s Keep on Striker Titan. This Aspect grants Bolt Charge to your weapons while standing behind a barricade, ideally a Rally Barricade. In essence, this turns all of your guns into Thunderlord, unleashing lightning strikes that deal immense damage when paired with the Flashover artifact perk.
If you’re struggling to stay alive, you’re able to always run aConsecrationbuild on Prismatic Titan. Paired withKnockoutand some form of damage resistance, you can blast your way through most encounters by spamming Consecration. Use Transcendence or a roaming Super likeGlacial Quakewhen you run out of melee energy to reset your charges.
Warlock
Lightning Surgereceived a major buff this season and is now viable for endgame content. Run this on Prismatic Warlock withFeed the Voidand Song of Flame to cover all of your team’s bases. Your melee ability will slay adds, while Song of Flame will serve as an invaluable survivability and DPS tool during boss encounters.
