Summary

Devil May Cryhas received another animation, one that, admittedly, takes a lot of creative liberties with the narrative and how the characters are portrayed, which can cause some mixed opinions among fans. However, what’s not up for contention is the great voice actors behind the characters.

The voice work is phenomenal and definitely a positive from the show, evenif you don’t think the rest of the show did justiceto the series. The show has an interesting casting choice for Dante, powerful and intimidating voices for evil characters, and one of the final works we’ll have from Kevin Conroy.

Dante in Netflix’s Devil May Cry series.

8Johnny Yong Bosch

As Dante

Johnny Yong Boschis an interesting pick for Dante. Johnny is familiar with the series, as he’s the voice of Nero inDevil May Cry 4 and 5- something you probably know or noticed if you’re used to the game series.

Though the clash of seeing him portraying Dante might catch you off-guard at first, he does a good job, especially since this version is younger than the one seen in more recent games such as Devil May Cry 5.

Enzo Ferino from Netflix’s Devil May Cry.

7Scout Taylor-Compton

As Mary

Lady also pops up with a different backstory and a very prominent role, serving as a co-protagonist in the show. Her voice comes fromScout Taylor-Compton,who does a wonderful job with the character.

She’s not a common voice among games, as she’s only been in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game, but she’s been in many movies, such as Halloween and An American Crime.

Ninja, King, Sentry, Patriot, and Anders from Netflix’s Devil May Cry.

6Hoon Lee

As The White Rabbit

A character originally created for the manga, the White Rabbit, reappears in the show, where he’s essentially a new character in everything but design. That said, he’s one of the best original bits of the show, andHoon Leemade him as terrifying as an antagonist should be.

He’s been in a few games, such as Homefront, and has portrayed Splinter in a few TMNT projects, as well as in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. He’s also been in the amazing show Warrior.

Plasma, Rudra and Agni, Echidna, and Cavaliere Angelo, in Netflix’s Devil May Cry.

5Kevin Conroy

As Vice-President Baines

Kevin Conroy, our eternal Batman,is not done with his posthumous performances. Despite his passing in November 2022, he recorded lines for several projects before dying, and due to the nature of the business, they take a while to be released. He plays Baines in the DMC anime.

Baines is an interesting figure in the show, with Machiavellian behavior towards the people who work under him and how to solve the problems with the demons. If the show happens to have a second season, we still don’t know if the character will be recast or just retired from the show entirely.

4Chris Coppola

As Enzo Ferino

Enzo also pops up in the show, voiced byChris Coppola. In a role that, at first, appeared to simply be a joke character, he actually works well in a supporting role during the overall story, even if he’s just there for the ride rather than having much to do with what’s going on.

Chris isn’t a big name in the gaming industry, only offering additional voices in Crash Tag Team Racing, but he’s been in movies and series like The Polar Express, Beowulf, and Ray Donovan, among others.

3Robbie Daymond

AsThe Storm That Is ApproachingVergil

Robbie Daymond’swork is a hard one to talk about. Nothing against his portrayal of Vergil; it’s just that the character appeared so little that it’s hard to have a firm opinion about his work. If the story progresses, the show will definitely have more of him, though, and Vergil is always someone worth looking forward to.

Still, based on his previous works, he’s a talented voice actor, having appeared in games such as Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, Re: Zero - Starting Life in Another World, and Sonic X Shadow Generations, among others. He’s also been in Critical Role as several characters.

It’s also worth highlighting Kue Lawrence, Marcel Nahapetian, and Evie Hsu, who voice the child versions of Dante, Vergil, and Mary, respectively, as the show has flashbacks of their childhoods.

2Other Darkcom Soldiers

Humans May Cry, Too

Darkcom, or Dark Realm Command, is an original concept for the show. They’re a government organization responsible for dealing with demons. Vice-President Baines leads them, and Mary is a member of Darkcom, who is also the most prominent one. Still, other members play supporting roles in the show:

1White Rabbit’s Gang

The Ones That May Cry

A good antagonist needs their group of minions to do his bidding - or usually die at the hands of the protagonist when trying to do said bidding. Though the show has many demons, most just instantly dying when fighting Dante, there are a few bigger ones that are a bigger challenge. There is:
