Summary

We’ve made it, folks. It’s officially just one year until the launch ofGTA 6. 365 days to go until we’ll all be playing one of the biggest games of all time. That’s if you believeRockstarcan have the game ready to go by July 26, 2025, and based on those celebrating the game turning minus one, not many of you are convinced.

After a prolonged period of radio silence, Rockstar kicked off this month by confirmingGTA 6 will not be here before the end of 2025, as was previously promised. It did provide a firm new release date, though, which we didn’t have before -Jul 28, 2025. That means, in theory, a lot of us will be playing GTA 6 exactly one year from now, but most of you are already mentally preparing for another delay.

How convinced GTA fans are of the next game’s delay, and how okay they are with it, varies quite a bit. “Until the next delay”,writes one person on Twitter, while another has gone a step further anddoesn’t think GTA 6 is ever coming out. Hard to imagine a game this big, whose latest trailer generated half a billion views in its first 24 hours, will simply be scrapped. Another delay, though, that might be almost inevitable.

Happy One Year Until GTA 6-iversary

It’s Not Getting Delayed Again, Don’t Let Anyone Convince You Otherwise

Many have pointed to the double delay ofRed Dead Redemption 2. Similarly to GTA 6, Rockstar pushed its celebrated cowboy sequel’s launch from the end of 2017 into the first half of 2018. Red Dead 2 was then hit with a second delay that pushed it to the second half of 2018, which is when it eventually released. Many are expecting GTA 6’s path to launch to mirror that.

Wait, have we considered the launch of GTA 6 might bebrought forward like Borderlands 4? Hey, you don’t know. It could happen.

There is good news if you focus primarily on GTA. BothGTA 4andGTA 5were publicly delayed one time each, meaning if GTA 6 continues that pattern, it really will be here exactly one year from today. ThePCversion of GTA 5, however, was delayed three times. That’s probably more something those of you planning to play GTA 6 on PC need to worry about. The highly anticipated game’s arrival on PC will come after it eventually arrives on consoles, meaning that version is still a lot more than a year out.

Whether GTA 6 is a year away or not, all we can do between now and Jun 22, 2025, is carry on watching the latest trailer over and over and trying to spot new details. Hard to imagine what’s left to find, as we wereobsessing over tiny details like its beer bubbleswithin a few hours of it dropping.
