There are more sidequests and secrets to discover inClair Obscur: Expedition 33than you’re able to shake a stick at. Some of them, like finding expedition logs, can take the entire game, while some simply require you to keep a careful eye out in certain areas so that you don’t miss an opportunity.
One quest, which you can pick up right at the start of the game, will take quite a few hours to complete. It turns a seemingly-useless item into something a bit handier, and the reward you get is a pretty handy freebie, so it’s worth taking the quick detour required!
How To Get The Strange Pictos
During the game’sprologue, you’ll quickly end up at a largefestivalnear the docks of Lumiere. While you are here, you’ll notice three stalls on the left-hand side of the area. Each of these stalls allows you to trade a single token for an item: theleftmost stall-holder will give you a Strange Pictos.
There arethree stalls and three tokensto acquire at the festival. You’ll begin with one token, and can acquire the other two bycompleting the quizzing NPC’s quiz(which you can repeat multiple times until your answers are correct) and bybeating Maelle in a quick fightwhen you’re prompted to meet her.
This item is useless to begin with, and you’ll learn as much as soon as you acquire it. You will have theopportunity to get it fixed up later in the game, however.
Where To Take The Strange Pictos
Later in the game, during Act 1, you’ll eventually reach theGestral Village. This area is made up of two general sub-areas - the leader’s massive hut and theGestrals' market.
In the market, you’ll find aGestral behind a wooden tablewho will notice the Strange Pictos and offer to fix it up for you. This will net you aLevel 5Augmented AimPictos- if you have a lower level version of the same Pictos, it will be upgraded.
